I am a huge trekie (I refuse to be called a treker) but find Enterprise lacking. (And don't get me started about the theme song). But I will watch and hope that the as the show jells it will get better. I remember TNG was not that good in the beginning, but to me, it ended up being the best Trek ever.

I think it's a winner! I've enjoyed every one of the "Trek" shows and I'm glad they continue.

I loved all the Star Trek shows, except the original. Too campy for me.
Enterprise is good - there's a whole lot of potential here, with a good cast and fun plots. It's nice to see humans making mistakes, and seeing where all their future rules and stuff came from. They're overconfident and a bit egotistical for newbies in the space game (and wide-eyed optimists) and you can see why prime directives and the like were eventually put in place! And no, I don't like the theme song either |

I hate the theme song as well... Hmm so they replace Barbie of Borg with uhh the Vixen of Vulcan? Gee, they say its very cold in space
![]() Anyway, I am not really bothering to watch this season all that intently. It seems normal for trek shows to suck the first season or so, before they settle into the characters and whatnot... Looking back on 1st season ST:NG, its so very impressive what it became in later episodes... They had a darn fine cast. I can only hope for the same growth in Enterprise, but please Please PLEASE get rid of that theme song. I want my instrumental piece to shots of the ship flying around like normal darnit! I like the original and the next generation. So far I have nothing nice to say about this show so I won,t.....say much. That has to be the worst theme song for a sci-fi show I have ever heard.I have no interest in watching another soap opera that takes place in space. At least on the next generation if an episode wasn,t action packed or wasn,t exploring some bizarre new place in the galaxy the characters were good enough to keep up your interest.
Hmmm,I wonder if angering trekkies is a good idea.

Well, being an old fella I grew up with the original Star Trek. I know it seems almost rediculous today and rightly so, but in our/its day, it truly was awesome. There was nothing like it anywhere.
I have watched and accepted the updated Trek's appreciating them for what they are, not comparing them to what went before. I mean special effects and tech wise Kirk's Enterprise is a joke in comparison to Pickard's or Janeway's, but it has it's charm for those of us who grew up with it when there was nothing else to compare it to. I have had the most difficult time with the new Enterprise. We have become so satiated with what we have been given TNG, DS9 and Voyager, that in a very real sense Enterprise is a step back to KirkTrek/Dark ages. Once I allowed myself to stop fretting about the simplicity of Enterprises tech (no shields, phasers, proton torps etc, etc.), stopped comparing it to TNG, DS9 and Voyager, I found that I was able to really enjoy Enterprise. I agree that there is alot of room for character developement, and hopefully we will see tech advances along the way. I also agree that it is a little unrealistic for such a techno backward race as the humans would be so aggressive 'buttonholing' all these techno superior races just assuming all will be amiable and sociable, but hey, this is fantasy after all and the ultimate goal is to prove that humanity will prove to be superior in the end. So I am allowing myself to enjoy Enterprise immensely based on its own merits. Heck Jolene Blalock alone is enough to entice me to see what each new episode has in store. |
