OK, after several recommendations and discussions on this forum, I bought my first Salvatore novel about 3 months ago. It then took its place on my large reading pile, and slowly worked its way through up to the top. I picked it up about 4 days ago - is the collectors edition of the Dark Elf Trilogy. Just finished the first book of the three and I am reasonably impressed. I have heard several people say that series plus the Icewind Dale trilogy were his better efforts. I must say I am pretty rapt in what is happening in this story. I still have a preference for moodier and more though provoking works like Robin Hobbs Assassin series, but I must say that I haven't read this voraciously for some time. Thanks for the recommnedations guys and gals.
