I am playing the German version, so at least half of the questions are impossible to answer for me. I know it's bugging and I sure don't want to spoil your fun, but maybe in future quizzes you could think of questions that are not text related. Keep on the good work
I find myself wondering if the banter between the players is different in the foreign language versions? America with their PTA's and political correctness is one of the more uptight countries on the planet so that makes me wonder if the non english version are a bit more free. Oh well that is what drunken curiosity will get you...lol

I don't think there is a real difference. The translation did a very good job to keep up the storyline, humour and the atmosphere of the game. So there are no important changes as far as I can say. But of course it's hard to identify one particular sentence or person's name if you know it in German only while it is given in English.
But in another post on this forum I've just read that in the American version kids cannot die, neither by spell nor by weapon. This is krass, I must say.

This is said by Sailor Paul, in one of the unnamed taverns in BG City, this one right next to the harbor. The spacebar onthis keyboard sucks. Paul is upset that the clear weather is going to aggravate his melanoma, and he can't buy sublock because it hasn't been invented yet, and as if you couldn't tell, I'm making this whole thing up because I haven't got a damned klew.

Meg, I told you I'd send you your answers to Quiz #5 "tomorrow," but my computer's having issues, so I will send them 'soon.'

I'm suprised you didn't get it SixOfSpades, as you seem to almost know the quote. I will await my results with dread.

Maybe it's them fisherman who worship Talos? The ones who stole the bowl in the Wyrm's Crossing map?

Since nobody seems to have got the tiebreaker, and people have publicised their answers, I'm just going to give up on it and unless someone scores >7 I will declare it a draw. Here's the tiebreaker answer...

'Oh dear. Where do we hide in fair weather, we ******* ** *** *****'
This pertains to a non-recruitable character in BG1. Who and why?

The full quote, from Evelyn Waugh's 'Brideshead Revisited' is 'Where shall we hide in fair weather we orphans of the storm '. The answer I was looking for was Tenya the priestess of Umberlee, who was orphaned by worshipers of Talos, the Stormlord, hence: orphans of the storm.

No one else has replied, so tommorrow I'm going to put up the answers along with the final scores. If anyone wants to take part but hasn't yet, now's your last chance.

Final scores

Illumina Drathiran'ar 7
SixOfSpades 7
Link 5
Armen 2

Ok... The answers

1. What is the name of the book which allows you to enter Candlekeep?
History of the Nether Scrolls

2. Who is filling his last cavity?
Dentist Mark B.

3. What is the name of the worlds only exploding ogre?
The amazing Oopah

4. What item did Babette Maelstrom have created to aid her dungeon exploration?
Helm of Infravision

5. It is possible, without cheating, to retain the book used to enter Candlekeep.
True. You can drop it outside the keep and still get in. You can retrieve it once you get out.

6. Centeol, the spider woman in cloakwood forest was cursed by Jon Irenicus.
False. It was the archmage, Jon Icarus. (Although since 'Icarus' was Irenicus's working name, I would have accepted 'true' as long as it was mentioned that Icarus was Irenicus's working name).

7. Along with the Golden Pantaloons, the only item which is retained when importing your character into BG2: SoA is the idol of Kozah the Stormstar found at the archaeological dig.
False. I just made that up.

8. Out of all recruitable NPCs, Coran has the highest stats. (str+dex+con+ etc)
False. Imoen and Ajantis both have higher.

Who said... (points will only be awarded for the characters name, not descriptions or locations)
9. 'The world above is yours... The depths belong to the dead that will not let go.'
Islanne

10. 'Your comings and goings in this city could hardly be called silent... Please, let us not start off so wrong.'
Addy

11. 'Consider my debt repaid, friends, as I certainly do.'
Xan, when you kick him out of the party with a very high or very low reputation.

12. 'Luck has seen fit to drop you in the lap of the lady.'
Chanthalas Ulbright, one of the priests of Tymora.
