The downside of a melee is that you get a LOT of effects and actions, which will cause serious lag and likely time out most of the competitors.

The downside of class-specific combat is that multiclassed characters belong to several, or none of the groups. The other downside is that you don't get the rock-scissors-paper effect for comparison. The best mage can be nothing compared to a decent rogue, but we'd never know (about magic, brownies have an unfair advantage in that they're much harder to target with the mouse )

I'm all for one on one combat, although we may want restrictions on Bigby's, Harm, Dev. Crit, Timestop and IGMS primarily. Or put some on items. Or just allow it all. It's all fine with me, as long as you've given it some thought.

Finally, the level issue.
We can make categories to determine the best of each level group (1-10,11-20,21-30,31-40 for example) and pit those against eachother, but we're looking for the best of the best. Not the best of the worst. So just bring your level 40

Other categories could be by armor class, attack bonus, hit points, amount of strength, and so on.
Or we do away with categories and make it totally random. I'd like that actually, you could be facing a level 40 wizard or a level 20 fighter, be lucky or not, it's all part of the game.

How about we get a bunch of names down and make it random?

I can see Halaster doing that. Just teleporting two Adventurers down to a PvP arena and saying that only one can leave.

How about we each can only use a club +0 and just beat each other to death

That means No armor no Helms nothing on us but our tatoos and a Wooden club cave man style.

The trouble is, without weapons favours the monks. Without anything favours the mages. Without magical equipment favours the clerics. With everything, in Undermountain, is the item combinations winning, rather than the characters.
Of course, everyone can get the items, and since skillpoints are part of a character, things like traps and healing kits should be available too.
Although I'd argue for restricting the amount of healing items to be used or it might just come down to whomever has most healing potions.

I would say we have to get rid of iteams like the necklace of infinate IGMS, ring of harm etc

and put a limit of 10 healing potions to be used.

We should then have a free for all (kind of like Melee Margathee in Salvatores Books) You can team up however in the end there can be only one.

I like the "one for all and then team up, beat on someone, then turn against either other" idea T-D-C.

Are you going to let people bring their own equipment, but restrict a items?

It will be server vault only. Only items would be what currenty esxists in Undermountain. However if we can we may nerf such items as The Necklace of IGMS and ring of Harm etc.

hmmmmm being as i am still on dial-up,i expect to be at a disadvantage, with that said,i say let
everyone use all there items and all the skills there character can normally use on undermountain.for example dev.critical,timestop.whatever as long as it was gotten on undermountain.Afterall it is the best of the best.I would not want to win a fight where
the other player has one arm tied behind his back. I prefer everything goes but i will be there which ever way is decided upon.

*BUMP*

Ok we are looking at a date towards the End of November for a showdown in the Level 1 PvP areana.

Once I get some "official" dates I will see if Ziroc can put and advertisement in the Tavern.

The format we will go with is an All IN BRAWL. All spells, all items, dev crit EVERYTHING. Bring your best character and let the fun being.

Please use the Offical thread for you to post your charcter details and sign up.
