I think the server vault idea sounds great! I hated watching the uberplayers wiz by and leave me standing there waiting for things to respawn when I'd play.

If you can do both it would be great! I like creating my own character, but then it sounds like we can do pretty much that in the server vault so I say go for it!

Well as far as the server vault question goes,I would hate to have to start a new pc again but would do so if it helped keep the ubers out. There was another mod i played on that had this kind of problem, they put in a command that automatically changed all the uber equipment you had if it was to powerfull. For example all the immunities that the ubers had on armor and such would be changed to improved saves or such,no more 100 percent immunities from slashing,piercing..etc..The only reason i would hate to start at level one though is i can't spend enough time here to level. ..Since only TCB is older than me..by five years i might add . I can't live here for 4 or 5 hours..
Mary wouldn't let me near the computer if i did that.:0..Anyway i will go with the flow and Hang around..No way will i leave here now.

Leveling is a soemthing I have a question about as well.

Z, Undermountain level 7 is super rich in experience points. A party of 3 10th level character can walk into level 7, and walk out around 25th or higher.
If you Go server vault, I would like to toss in a suggestion to lessen the experience pts gained from the Xanather Guild members and the Skeleton Army. I was on level 7 today with 2 other players, I was level 27 and I gained 4 levels before we reached the exit. That seems a bit too much in my own opion.

Any comments welcome of course

I voted for server vault as I have to start at a low level anyways once I start playing since I don't have my old character anymore. I don't like uber power gamers ruining my fun, that's why I don't even try to play much online, besides the problems just by having only dialup (getting cable in June/July).

That would be great!!!! in fact that's one heck of a good idea. I started wondering how I would ever get enough experiance to be able to take on level 5 let alone level 11 and down to 13,14 & 15,. and the respawn out of range of the monsters is another good Idea. I'm so tired of the respawn 50 times in one spot, you never get a chance to regroup or even figure a way to escape the area.

Like Bill Murry would say when asked; How did you make it this far?
He would say "T R A A A I N I N G.....MAN......T R A A A I N I N G!!"

Are you having some problems with NWN Gold and XP, or just making a prediction?

I vote server vault, but I think you need a character of level 10 minimum. I tried level 7 (and saw other characters less than 10th level) and we couldn't get past level 2. Some of the monsters are nigh-invincible unless you've got some decent skills/ abilities.

Instead of a training room, why not just "give" enough XP per each new character created to level them up? Then they can level on their own as they journey around. I like the idea of having a separate respawn point though. Either that, or just lay there dead and wait for someone to raise/resurrect, or until the monsters go away ( if you want to Role Play it out in full of course)

As for the gold... money & XP should be awarded in accordance to what you should be able to equip yourself with in order to survive down there.

Question: can you still equip items that are higher level than your character level? I'm in favour of not being able to use an item if it's beyond your level of experience.

Switching to servervault means the mod will need much more balancing and finetuning (xp and itemwise both), as well as some additional or modified scripts.
Also, complaints may well rise in number as things are 'unfair', there'll be people abusing exploits, player counts might well drop.
If no care is taken, the players' increased complaints born of greater interest in the safety of their non-expendable characters could well lead to an attempt at running the server democratically which always ends in trouble as players don't know what they want but do know whatever they have now isn't quite it.
Whackmeister's bang on target too.

The question is, are the benefits worth it?
That depends a lot on the mod.
In the case of EfU, I'd say no, they're not.
It needs too many changes to work smoothly under SV.
And with weaker monsters, fewer magic items and whatnot else, Undermountain wouldn't be the same.

Just my opinion based on about a year's worth of NWN experiences.

It wouldn't require that many changes Legolas, trust me. I have been working on this Mod a long time, and I have already balanced Undermountain Level 2 today (not yet released v1.2.9) and Level 3 has been TOTALLY replaced. I will be going through each level and fixing/balancing it--even if we don't go server vault, I gotta do this. I have removed some of the treasures, and removed some (SOME) tough monsters on the early levels (1, 2, 5) so far, to get the levels better tuned to people coming in with a new character. It's simple changes, man. You make it sound bad! heh, I live for this stuff!!

If I went server vault, I would keep a non server vault up as well. I can do that now. I was thinking of hosting a non-cep EfU, but I would have to redo a LOT (some levels are not even there--12,13) so I didn't do it.. no worries!
