Does this problem only arise when the game tries to load a movie? If so you could try telling it not to play the cut-sceen movies. You could also try copying the required ARxxxx file into the Cache to see it that fools the program into not needing the CD disk. Must say this is a tough problem but someone should have been here before.
God luck

Good idea, MG. I thought that could be the answer, but sadly no matter how many files I put in the cache, it still asks for disc 2. I considered downloading a No CD Crack to solve it, but you need to do a full install for that to work. I'm starting to think it's a problem with the disc and it may be impossible to get the files because they aren't there. But that makes no sense...

What about the Movies? I know a lot of people have trouble with these.
I have no experience of the 3CD version, does the BG.ini file still allocate the "Disks" to the phisical drive letter and is the game contained on 6 "Disk" files that are contained on the 3 Cds.
There is a lot of vital info in the BG.ini file if you know what it means.

Ooooh! I think we're getting somewhere MG!

Here's my Baldur.ini file:

[Alias]
HD0:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\
CD1:=D:\CD1\
CD2:=D:\CD2\
CD3:=D:\CD3\
CD4:=D:\CD4\
CD5:=D:\CD5\
[Program Options]
SoftSrcKeyBltFast=0
SoftBltFast=0
SoftSrcKeyBlt=0
SoftBlt=0
SoftMirrorBlt=0
Translucent Shadows=1
[GameSpy]
Region=0
[Program Options]
Volume Music=40
[Game Options]
Memory Access=100
Footsteps=1
Weather=1
[Config]
CacheSize=140

It directs the game to the 5 CDs! Right, so any idea on how to edit it so that it will direct it to the 3 CD version? Perhaps someone with the 3CD set could paste their baldur.ini file?

Thanks, MG, looks like you've cracked it [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img]

Ok, Jaradu. The other info we need is the how the file folders are arranged on the 3 CDs. You asked about this earlier but I don't know the answer(I have 6 CDs, old and very well used!) Does one of your disks have a folder called "CD3" ??

CD1 only has a folder called CD1, CD2 only has a folder called CD2 and TotSC has a folder called CD6. No folders called CD3.

I'm running out of ideas here. Can you say which areas are off-limits to you? How about the Gnoll Stronghold or the Ankheg/Farm area or even Ulgoth's Beard? Maybe from trying these you can figure out which CD contains the info that the game needs.

Well, the problems occur when I try to enter Nashkel by going south from the Friendly Arm Inn through Beregost.

EDIT) If anyone has the 3CD version, I would very much appreciate them posting the Baldur.ini file if it makes a difference.

Thats why I thought it might be a problem with the movies. If you can explore elsewhere then the ARxxxx files are ok. If you go somewhere else like Ulgoth's Beard, then that should also trigger a movie.
