lol; *I* think it would be cool if all the "IW-ers" got together and rewrote the ending for NWNs... lol, and put ALL our ideas into it

post it? I COULD post it...lol.... hmm... where did I leave that file... hold on...
![]() say along the lines of... (btw, LA is Lady Aribeth and Cal is Calaethis ) Cal: Lady Aribeth... would you mind if we had a word in private? LA: You may speak freely here, none shall betray us. Cal: Please...? As one elf to another? LA: Oh all right... (once in private, preferbly in the Temple of Tyr, city core) Calaethis: Lady Aribeth... I ...want you to promise me something... please don’t hurt me until I've finished... I want your word. LA: Calaethis; if you are a murderer, then you have paid for your pardon ten times over... Calaethis: Worst... I'm a son of murder... LA: What do you mean? Calaethis: Do you know about the Time of Troubles? LA: What has *that* got to do with anything? Calaethis: it has everything to do with it... During the Time of Troubles the gods walked the land… one god, Bhaal foresaw this own death, and impregnated at least one of each female humanoid on Faerun… in these “Spawn of Bhaal”, or “Bhaalspawn”, he implanted some of his essence, in the hopes that when he fell, these “Spawn of Bhaal” would allow him to live on; for when they died, the essence would return to him, and when enough essence was gathered, he would be resurrected. In order for this to happen, he entrusted on of his priestess’s with the necessary rituals to complete the bloody act. All of his “Children”, were to be slain at birth by their own mothers, Bhaal’s priestesses… my own… mother… was an elf… one of these… priestess of Bhaal… and I, myself… am one of the last remaining children of Bhaal… LA: *draws sword* One of the Children?! Calaethis: Wait, you promised... please... you gave your word… just hear me out, I beg of you, Lady Aribeth? LA: …Make one false move, and it is your last. Calaethis: You would strike down an unarmed elf? One of your own people?! LA: You are a Bhaalspawn; not an elf. A demi-god, if you will. Now, tell me what you have to say. Calaethis: If I had wanted to harm any of you… I could have done so on the first day I was here… have I not proved myself? But… I understand why you react so… my lady. I swore… nevermind… LA: …well… you’re a child of Bhaal… this makes everything different… yet there is merit in your words. I shall listen – for now. Calaethis: Thank you… besides… you can always end my life when I am done… LA: I shall hold that in reserve. Calaethis: I shall begin, I see you are growing impatient… LA: Am I that obvious? Calaethis: My Lady, there are several primary rules that we elves hold… One of the most important is this: We take care of our young, unlike those humans… each elf is loved… at least, that is how it should be… LA: Calaethis, please. I know all this… tell me what you have to say. Calaethis: My tale begins in the Time of Troubles… as I have said, I was one of the Children. You are familiar with the prophecy of Alundo? LA: Vaguely. Calaethis: Good, at least I don’t have to explain it to you. You know what Bhaal intended? To rise again? You know how he planned to do this? LA: …tell me anyway. Calaethis: He mated with at least one female of each race; when the children were born… their own mothers were to sacrifice them, giving the essence of Bhaal back to him, allowing him to rise… LA: That’s horrible! Calaethis: I only survived… because my foster father… slew my mother, and many others as well, unfortunately, he could only save me… LA: I see. Calaethis: He knew who I was… but he raised me as his own, teaching me the difference between right and wrong, in the hopes that I would see past my tainted blood, and not embrace Bhaal’s legacy… in the hopes that I would be the one to fulfill Alundos prophecy… LA: That explains much. Calaethis: …He was correct… I was the one Alundo spoke of… but I was not the only Bhaalspawn he raised… I did not know that… Imeon was my sister, neither did she know she was a Bhaalchild … in fact, I was unaware of my tainted blood until… after… When I was twenty, I was told by my Foster Father… the Sage Garion of Candlekeep that I was to go on a journey… just as I was leaving, Another Bhaalspawn, Sarevok by name, slew my father… in front of me… I was young then, and couldn’t defend myself… so I did the only thing I could… I ran… That was five years ago… LA: Wait; you’re only a child? You haven’t yet reached your thirstiest year? Calaethis… you shouldn’t even be allowed out in the world. You did the only thing you could do to save yourself, do not be ashamed… Calaethis: I know… but… I will do what I must. Irenicus taught me that… so did Sarevok. LA: Irenicus…? Doesn’t that mean “Shattered One”? Calaethis: Yes… but… he comes into the story later… anyway… You’ve heard of Sarevok and how he tried to control Baldurs Gate? Trying to start a war with Amn? And the city of Athklata… you know that he *tried* to control all of the iron mines? LA: Yes, I had heard that a tyrant Bhaalspawn… you were the one that killed him, weren’t you? Calaethis: Yes. Me, the Terror of the Sword Coast… an elven child of twenty… heh, I never liked that title anyway… I did what I had to… I fought my blood… LA: You… the Terror of the Sword Coast? Yes… that would make sense. But a child? I think I understand why you… did not come to me at first… Calaethis: Forgive me? Please? LA: …You are asking my forgiveness? Calaethis: Yes… I am an elf… an elven child… and… everyone I’ve ever known… I’ve ever loved as family… has left me, or has been murdered… After Baldur’s Gate… with Sarevok… I was a hero… I never wanted it… any of it… Then Irenicus came… he “jumped” me… and my companions… LA: You have lost everyone you ever loved? Calaethis: Yes… I sent them away… some of them after… but I am getting ahead of myself. I was jumped… I woke up in a cage… I was tortured… mentally and psychically… by another elf… Irenicus, formally Jonaleth. I… he taunted me about my “power” and lectured me on how I could use it, if I desired… I refused… His base… was under attack by shadow thieves… in the confusion, Imeon released me… she knew who I was, what I was… yet she loved me as a brother… the irony being, I was her brother… she didn’t find out that she was my sister… until later… my companions… two of them were murdered… the other two, trapped as I was… I released them… and… we escaped… Imeon was taken… by the wizards of Athklata as was Irenicus… I went after Imoen, to rescue her… and “right any wrongs along the way”… LA: You did all that? You went after your sister? Calaethis: I’m an elf. Would you have done any different? LA: No… I suppose not… but you could have gone after this… Irenicus for vengeance… Calaethis: Vengeance…? I suppose I could have done… the thought crossed my mind more then once… but… my blood… tainted… no, I decided that I’d rescue Imeon, but no vengeance… you see… with… my linage… I was afraid of losing myself… LA: I…understand I think. Go on. Calaethis: Anyway… I managed to get involved with a guild war… one with the shadow thieves, and Irenicus’s vampire sister’s guild… but I didn’t know that she was his sister then… I sided with the Shadow Thieves, a lesser of two evils, you understand? LA: …I see. Well siding with undead… isn’t a choice I’d pick… yes I agree with you. Calaethis: Anyway… I sided with the Thieves, and they “asked” me to do several menial tasks… before assaulting Bodhi in her Stronghold… LA: YOU DIDN’T?! Calaethis: …er…actually, with my companions I did… and we won… I didn’t really do all that much… LA: You’re too modest. I’ve seen firsthand how you recovered some of the reagents of the cure. I think, you probably lead the attack, and faced Bodhi herself, am I right? Calaethis: well… I… anyway, after we had defeated the vampires in their lair… the Shadow Thieves gave us a ship… we arrived at Spellhold. I found Imoen… and well… Irenicus was there… I confronted him, and he fled to the Underdark… LA: You didn’t! Tell me you didn’t follow him… Calaethis: He planned to annihilate the elven city of Suldunessalar… and I couldn’t allow him to succeed… as you said… I’m a Bhaalspawn… but I’m also an elf… I just…couldn’t allow… LA: Calaethis… dear Calaethis… you’re so selfless. *sigh* You followed this Irenicus into the Underdark, to save an entire elven city?! And you, a child?! Calaethis: Yes… he had made an alliance with the Drow… and had entered one of their cities… LA: Oh Calaethis… I think I see where this is going. Calaethis: With the aid of a silver dragon, who had had her eggs stolen from her, by the evil drow, I infiltrated the city, under the influence of dragon magic; we were in the form of drow. I found the eggs, though a daughter of a matron mother… The fool wanted to bed me. I refused. They planned to summon a daemon from the depths, and offer it the dragon’s eggs. I switched the eggs with fake ones, from the matrons daughter… another drow, assisted me… He was unlike the others… and did not follow Loth… LA: I see where this is going. This drow? He was this matron’s daughter’s former lover? And she asked you to kill him. Knowing you, you probably let him go. He… probably guessed who you were at that point… and told you that he no longer followed Loth. I can’t think of any other reason why he would tell you. Calaethis: You are correct; he gave me a second pair of eggs to switch, and I did. Then they summoned the daemon, and it slew both the Matron, and her daughter. I left at that point… The alarm was raised soon after I left the city… It did cross my mind… to… LA: Tell me you didn’t. Even you could not have faced an entire city… Calaethis: I could have done… I was that powerful… Lady Aribeth… I have faced dragons in single combat and won before… you don’t understand what it was like… I could have killed them all. But I refused to give in to the taint… I won’t murder. LA: I see. Then you exited the Underdark? Calaethis: Yes, and I fought my way to the surface… and to the elves… and they… they… LA: Calaethis? Calaethis: I’m sorry… I arrived there any they questioned me… I explained why I was there… and they… sent me off to face Bodhi again, alone… because she had taken their sacred lantern, and without it, they could not get into their city… LA: Calaethis? Surely they must have known you were a child… and to send you alone?! Calaethis: I didn’t tell them my age… and they… even though I was an elf… LA: They rejected you? Calaethis: No, not that… it’s just that after all I’d done for them… I expected at least some welcome… not an interrogation, with archers aiming at me… LA: They didn’t! Calaethis: They did… after I faced Bodhi, and slain her, finally, I went back to the elves… there they let me into the city… and I had to face Irenicus… he was slaughtering the elves… he was of their city… an exile… he hated them… and I sigh it’s a long story, but I faced him and fought him at the Tree of Life; and then… LA: Poor Calaethis… you’ve been though such a lot. Did they welcome you? As they should? Calaethis: There’s more… but I’m not ready to tell you… LA: More? How? Calaethis: Oh all right… since you hold my life in your hands… I may as well… There was more to the battle… I awoke in the “Abyss”, shaped by my mind… Irenicus was there too… he’d taken my soul, and Imeon's, he’d given Imoens to his sister… Immy got hers back when Bodhi died… and mine, when I slew Irenicus… the Abyss, it was… my own mind created tests for me… a good and evil path… for each one… it was… LA: You don’t have to go on. Calaethis: Thank you… I chose the “Good” path… even though it cost me dearly… I faced Irenicus in the end, and slew him. For good, when I awoke, the elves were near me… I was in bed… they said, she said I’d been out for days… and they had just given up hope… The Queen, welcomed me back to the land of the living, and held a speech... then she gave me an amulet… LA: That’s all? An amulet? Even for an elf… Calaethis: I know… I stayed there for a while… a moments rest-bit… but… the prophecy of Alundo was coming to fulfillment… five powerful Bhaalspawn arose, and started terrorizing the land... you must of heard? LA: I had heard of six… and one who had gone around slaying his more powerful kin… in an attempt to put a stop to the reign of terror… that was you, wasn’t it? Calaethis: Yes… but there’s more… Before I left… I spoke with Ellesime… she took me to a sacred grove… deep in the elven forests… with the stone heads which tell of the future… they told me… of what may happen… two or three possible futures… LA: Oh Calaethis… Calaethis: I… was ambushed by one of the five, and I slew her… I then made my way to the city of Saradush… but… the Abyss, when I had reformed it in my battle with Irenicus… I did it again, sort of… a cocoon if you will, a pocket plane… again there were tests… and also… a Solar… one who guided me… my “Brother” Sarevok was waiting for me there… I… *sigh* I raised him… it was the only way I could get out of my pocket plane… I forgave him, but… I allowed him to join me, as a companion, so if he showed any treachery… my blade would find his heart again… LA: You raised the one that murdered your foster father?! And forgave him? I’m not sure I would have been able to do the same… Calaethis: I had no choice. I had to get out, and save Faerun… I arrived at the city of Saradush… and there I met Amelisane, the Blackhearted; High Priestess of Bhaal. I did not know who she was at the time… she said she was a “Guardian” to Bhaalspawn. I hate that term… She had gathered as many of the children as she could into Saradush, in the hopes their more powerful kin would crush them… I couldn’t save them, Lady Aribeth! I couldn’t! I tried… but… LA: It’s all right, Calaethis. Hush. Calaethis: …I was out of the city at the time… finding a way to defeat Yaga Shura. After he’d …slaughtered all of my weaker kin, I returned, too late… but… I slew him in combat. The names of those I couldn’t save are… burned into my soul, in words of fire… because of my tainted blood… LA: It wasn’t your fault Calaethis, you did what you could, no one could ask for more. Calaethis: I… I know, but it doesn’t make it any easier… the others, they’re were three left… I slew two of them… Balthazar… He was good, a monk… I persuaded him to join me, along with Imoen and Sarevok, and the others. Yes, three children of Bhaal with the most essence in them left… we faced Amelisane in Bhaal’s throne of Blood… LA: Calaethis… you, the sixth Bhaalspawn disappeared after the other five were slain… are you telling me… that there is more to this? Calaethis: Yes, my companions and I fought in Bhaal’s Throne of Blood; Amelisane wanted to become a God herself, or rather a Goddess… Once I had defeated Amelisane, and turned down... Bhaals throne... LA: Calaethis? What do you mean “Turned down” Bhaals throne? Calaethis: I mean… I was offered His Throne of Blood... to become the New Lord of Murder… I never wanted any of his taint anyway… I wanted none of it… I could have been a force for good, a God… but… I was not ready. I… could not face it… LA: So you turned down Godhood… Calaethis… you continue to astound me… not many would turn down such power… Calaethis: After it was all over… my companions went their separate ways, there was no need for us to remain together… and they needed to grieve, or get on with their lives… I went back to Suldernessalar, to find some peace… Ellesime greeted me, but not in the way I had hoped… I was never truly accepted, for all my two years of trying… but…. I spoke with Ellesime… and then I spoke to the stone heads again... they said... should I ever travel up to Neverwinter, and there was a plague... (explain about dester, fenthick) They also said that if I did not go, then the north would fall… and then the rest… there would be war and carnage for centuries to come… that is the real reason why I came… our people… I could not let them die… even if they didn’t do as they should have towards me… Still I can’t blame them… LA: But why did you enter the academy? If you are that good, you shouldn’t have needed too… Calaethis: After my divine essence left me… I was no longer as powerful as I once was… oh of course I could still hold my own with a goblin, even an orc but… I felt it best that I brushed up on my skill… what better way then to learn at the hands of veterans? …There was another reason as well… if I had come to you right away, you would have slain me outright more then likely… I had to earn your trust, to prove that I was a force for good. LA: I see. I understand your reasoning… and perhaps you are right… I am unsure… still, that you have come to me and have done the right thing is all that matters. You are a child… Calaethis… and you… lost all you cared about… I… am unsure how I would have coped… but… you deserve life Calaethis… even now, you are selfless… *sigh* You are too good for this world, I think… but, I shall not be the one who ends your life… Calaethis: Thank you Lady Aribeth… for listening… then they are ready for dester when he's about to make off with the cure... they stop him... and Nasher executes him. then LA and Fen can live happily ever after... And adopt Cal. [ 09-10-2002, 03:30 PM: Message edited by: Calaethis Dragonsbane ]

LOL, I like it, except for the part about being a child. The Bhaalspawn would be in his/her twenties, at least, by my reckoning. And I wouldn't have truckled to Aribeth so much. She's just a widdle paladin, with just a +1 sword at best. But, that saed, I'm glad to see some creativity on these boards, not just mindless spamming. Well done! (P.S. You let Sarevok into your party? I could never justify that while roleplaying. I know, I know, "everybody does it." Not me.)

Nah, too wiggly text for me, much muttering and stuttering.. Aribeth was never a real challenge, but then again, I never challenged her - save in the end - as she's a sweet lass. In the end, when we met each other face to face on oppsite sides, I just showed her how inferior she is. Her first hit was blocked and second one smacked her sword out of her hands, what I kept as a keepsake of that moment, when she saw the truth, heh.
Other then that, I would not put the Bhaalspawn stuff into NWN, as they are different things. Bhaalspawn saga was over with ToB. Could probably stretch it over to NWN too, the thing simply is - by that time the char would have been SO famous that no one would have called him/her to accademy as a trainee, he/she would have been called by Lord Nasher himself, and in polite way at that ![]()
