he also casts a lighting bolt and some sort of area of affect spell( i can't remember) and he also casts a flame arrow at the start. I think he is a mage with the special ability cure light wounds. He also packs an impossibly strong lighting bolt when attacked in cadlekeep so as not to break the plot.
