"As a reader, you have the right to not answer that question, but do not, under any circumstances, berate a person for asking a 'common' question, or a question that can be easily answered."

I'm sorry, Dundee, if I wasn't clear. It's about him being too lazy to help himself. It's one thing if he looked but couldn't find it, or if he lost his manual, but it's a totally different thing to not read it whatsoever. (Note he specifically said he's "too busy" to read the manual.)

I get frustrated when people try to learn games by skipping steps. There's a certain amount of legwork that the gamer must do, or at least attempt, for himself. Relying entirely on the forum (because he has "a life"???) is inefficient and shows lack of initiative. So, I encouraged him to read his BG Tome. One can only gain a greater appreciation for the game by doing so - and clear up countless "muddy" areas of knowledge at the same time. The way I see it, it's win/win.

Frustating as it may be, he still has the right to ask. There is no crime in what he did, but your reply could have been better phrased so as to prevent unneeded hostility.

You could have left out this entire sentence...

Do you really think we find answering blatantly obvious questions from an admitted sloth a fun and interesting past time? You seem to.
... and your post would have been perfectly alright. To put it one way, it was uncalled for.

As I said in my previous post, you have the right to remain silent and ignore other people's questions.

I am not scolding you, Lemmy, but I am telling you that there is need to vent your frustration like this.

I had no problem with his question until he said he didn't even *try*. At that point it's not "Help, I can't figure out how this works" it's "Help, I can't read my manual." Reminds me of the adage that begins: "Give a man a fish..."

So, yer saying that when the whippersnapper himself says 'e's too gol durned busy to look up the info himself I can't call him a sloth?

Actually I am more familiar with the saying of, "Make a fire for man, and he is warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he is warm for the rest of his life."

Jesting aside, if you reeeeally feel the need to critisise somebody, at least put a spin on it so as to indicate that you are not projecting hostility onto him/her.

Sarcasm is a wonderful tool, and best used in conjunction with tact and dry wit. Ergo, try not to be so aggressive.

That's right. If you have nothing good to say about someone, then don't say it at all. Ignore him if you wish - nobody's making you help him anyway. It's no skin off his back and no skin off yours. Clear?

Lemmy, content yourself with the certain knowledge that people who don't bother to flip through the manual will never score higher than an "Oris Nimblefinger" in any of my dreaded Quizzes.

I'd buy that, but he already said as much himself. I just showed him how his latter post translated when I read it: "I want you to read my manual for me." It rubbed me the wrong way, so I spoke up. Maybe my CHA was bordering on about 3 at the time, but I stand behind the idea that *some* work should be done by the player.

So, Taran, I apologize if my post(s) rubbed you the wrong way. I would, however, encourage you to take a more active interest in your game and its mechanics. Not reading up on the game can only hurt you.

I'm not so sure. I haven't seen your quizzes as weighing too heavily on the manual. He might just be an expert on totally obscure and unworshipped deities.
