So Spartan, I couldn't resist asking about your fight with the Mantraps, how did you do it? Whenever I see one of these threads about the first encounter with these "PLANTS" I always have to laugh when thinking of my first time. . . "What the, sh**, what was that, this can't be right!"

The first time I ran into them I was talking with Torin, a bunch of Ratlings attacked me and all of a sudden the Mantraps appeared. Before I knew what was happening, 2 of my characters were dead, one of them being my wizard
 . So I just went berserk, went into melee combat, actually killed one, then got killed by 3 others.So Spartan, how about you? Please describe it like mammawlin said. I always like to hear stories about those things.  -Jafin |

Take a lesson from me...
APPARENTLY, you can play this game in a "phase-based" mode. I killed them with my solo ranger in REALTIME !!!  Don't do that...   Change the settings...------------------

MERLIN'S SHIELD! MERLIN'S SHIELD!! MERLIN'S SHIELD!!! Another helpful tools: Snakeskin Trait or Algamesh's Amulet - but they aren't so good.
The Merlin's Shield spell makes their poison attack unusable - I have never been poisoned if I cast the spell enough soon. During one encounter, I fought 4 of them simultaneously and lost 0 HP. And I fought - I didn't cast spells. Therefore, cast Merlin's Shield then decide how to remove the plants from the game. Firestorm or Meteorstorm works great. Good weapons are useful, too. |
