If you use a flamedrop or burning haze spell on the spider and Kerielle walks in on the floor above, she will get burned as well, and will attack you. She is surprisingly powerful (wonder why? story here?), considering what a wimp Erzebette is, in comparison.

Don't forget Shinwicki has a detailed explanation as to why the ladders are so difficult to negotiate!

I remember seeing many a sweet little butterfly get chopped to bits by those biting blades..

Alicat, in answer to your question, I gather Kerielle is a druidess. Based on her description, "I watch over all these lands", it would seem to be the most logical conclusion.

I wish they had put in a Druid class in the game! It would make sense to have one class that could have cast "Stone" and "Vine" magic, especially since both schools were so hard to come by. "Stone" and "Vine" seem to fit a druid. Not to mention, I think the "Nature's Keeper" trait would have been far more applicable to druids than to a Monk (really!)

Oh well...

At least one good thing is that Kerelle is suseptible to Charm. I made the same mistake on one of my turns through the game and had not saved for a bit before that. But I charmed her and she was ok. She started to follow me for a bit, but I finally said goodbye to her often enough that she got the message that I was dumping her.
