For the lighting problem, you can adjust the brightness on your monitor or install the patch which is supposed to correct it. The patch deprives you of some "bonuses" with getting exp over and over again for a quest or two though. Your choice.

thats a tough one, seeing the game with less exp or wandering around the areas for hours doing nothing... hard choice, any suggestions?

I get best lighting using the following graphic options (though it'll depend on your graphic card and it's memory)..

Render quality - medium
Driver - Software driver
Resolution - high
Gamma - 3/4 to Max
Mip maps - on
Mip detail - high
View distance - high
Lighting quality - *LOW* (High gets me almost total darkness! This may
be the only setting you'd need to fool with.)
Polygon and Texture details - high

Thank you, Elara! This may solve some of the problems for those with lighting difficulties. Just one question, though...are you playing with the patch or without it? It may make a difference.

Hi Saz,

Am playing without the patch.. never had any trouble with the game so didn't see the need for it.

Oh yeah, and don't forget the ever useful "Illuminate" spell which works great outdoors too!
