Just a little side note. In case were not aware of it, Dragis, Baldurs Gate follows the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons rules. That's where the limits come from on spells you can memorize. Sounds like you have hit the ceiling for your character's intelligence.

u cant actually write priest/druid spells to book can you? i thought you got them automatically every level more options...?

and get ring of wizardry to increase level 1 spells you can memorise and also if you dont have a write option that means your mage isnt capable of learning that school of magic but can learn it with the options people stated above

So the problem is you are trying to learn spells from scrolls, but they don't have the write spell option.

There are only three situations in which that could happen.
1) You're trying to learn a spell the mage already knows
2) You're trying to teach a specialist mage a spell from an opposite school
3) You're trying to teach your mage a spell from a priest scroll

Either that or there's something buggy going on.

Dragis...Sorry about the spell problem thing but let me commend you on playing the character that you rolled as opposed to hacking in a supergod. I know that this may (Yet Again) ignite the roleplaying vs. Powergaming battle in the board, which may be a good thing seeing the slide towards the darkside of powergaming I have noticed on the boards, but it is good to see someone roll a character and play him. Even If you were to spend a while rolling to get the best that you can get it is better than hacking in a character.

Drink a potion of Genuis (purple bottle) to boost your int to 19. Why does everyone forget about drinking wisdon potions they are a mages best friend?

'Fraid the learning curve can be a little steep in places for the AD&D ruleset - if you don't know it before you come to BG. Don't worry though, you'll soon chip in with the best of us, offering advice and a shoulder to cry on in times of stress. Like finding out about spell limits due to intelligence the hard way.
