A character that can walk through stone could be a psyonic. Hobbits where described as very good at sneaking. And they spend most of the time doing that. They also are not very good at fighting, so if I had to give them a class, it would be thief.

It is true that Gandalf nevers seems to cast any spells. But he can toss people around by waving his staff. That's pretty cool. I'd do that a lot if I could. Certainly more than Gandalf did.

And then there's his ability to ward off attacks by sword, axe, and arrow with the wave of his Wicked Stick of Magical Niftiness.

We musn't forget his encounter with the Baalrog on the bridge in the depths of Moria. Gandalf said, "You shall not pass!", and sure enough, the bridge collapsed under the big flaming nasty and he did not pass. Of course, Gandalf struck the bridge with the staff.

Maybe it's all the stick. Wonder if size matters . . . .

For the demon part, it seem to me that in game turn, Gandalf was attempting to turn him.

Size don't matter, it's what you do with it... right?

Gandalf really isnt even human *goes and grabs his many many tolkien books* he is a Maiar, a great spirit older than anything on earth first race from the beggining, there were 5 of them sent to middle earth becuase a feeling of evil was beginning to form in middle earth, they came in the form of men,
Gandalf the Grey
Radagast the Brown
Saruman the White
the other 2 went to the east to take no part in the risings in middle earth
sooo um yeah there yah go lol
oh yeah and Gandalf used a sword soooo you know maybe not have him as a magic user at all or a druid/fighter somthing to wear you can use a sword

yah know lol, whatever

Without meaning to start a theological debate, isn't Tom Bombadil and his missus (...what's her name. Where's that bloody book gone? You know, she kept turning into water and stuff) supposed to be a (thin) representation of God and the Mother Earth. I always got the impression that they were a cut above the rest. I also seem to remember something from my MERPS role playing days (about 12 years ago) that the Balrog was also an evil kind of Maiar.

Anyway, my LOTR in IWDII party....

Gandalf - Aasimar Sorceror (Leader, obviously). They may even be a touch of Paladin about the man.

Aragorn - Human (maybe Aasimar) Paladin of Helm 4 (Well he's not just your typical ranger. Has a certain 'fallen Paladin' appeal about him)/Fighter 4 (dab hand with that sword, has to have specialisation/Ranger (the rest).

Arwen - Moon Elf Cleric of Selune/Wizard (probably more Cleric than wizard). I cant think of any other suitable and loosely plausible characters to provide the Cleric of the party. Elrond maybe, but he's obviously a tad retired.

Legolas - Wild Elf Fighter/Ranger (Has to have the Fighter so he can get the specialisation in bow, which he obviously has). Has to have the Ranger, I mean walking on snow has to be some kind of ULTRA move silently.

Gimli - Shield Dwarf Fighter (That one was easy)

Frodo - Strongheart Halfing Rogue. Mind you, they do a fair amount of singing, dancing and telling a good yarn. What about a Bard?

She only killed the Witch-king, leader of the Nazgul!

In the next movie, you'll see her role souped up from the book.

Draven Drakehorn, I thank you for the lesson in Tolkien lore. I didn't know anything about the Maiar. Makes Aasimar the logical choice for race. However, I don't agree that Gandalf needs fighter levels to wield a sword. With 3rd edition rules a 1st level wizard can be proficient in a two handed sword, a halberd, or whatever.

RedballUK - why Wild elf for Legolas? I may have the wrong image of wild elves, but I always pictured them as being as close to barbarian as an elf could be expected to get. I've not caught the slightest hint of barbarian in Legolas.

Imrahil - don't believe you/he made an appearance in 2 Towers, but I think you/he may appear in the 3rd flick.

Well i didnt know taht a first level wizard couldbe prof. in a sword =( but anyways im not sure what Tom was but lets see umm oh yeah in the fellowship they left out the reforging of the sword and tom giving our hobbit friends the elven blades, wait till Return of the King and you will see *whips through lotr books for tom info* ^quote from a book^

Other spirits, who may have been servants of the Vala Ulmo, also lived within the Old Forest. One of these was the Rive woman or the Withywindle, and another was her daighter Goldberry who was bombadils spouse...

My understanding from being told about the contents of the Simarillion (I have not started reading it yet...)...is that Legolas is a decendant from a very important elf from the First Age. I would call him a Moon Elf or Silver Elf...because he loves the starlight...like his ancestor...from what I am told, and Elrond would be something like a Gold Elf...because he acts like one, from descriptions I have heard and read about. Elaine Cunningham did a great job with her novel "Evermeet".
