I don't mind waiting an extra month; it will give me time to buy a (preferrably used) 3rd edition Player's Handbook so that I can familiarize myself with the new rules. I might even be able to pre-design a party, so that I can get started more quickly.

I went to go get it today, but they have moved it back to July 2. Curse, rant, kick, and scream...

what's that book all about, anyway? For some reason, for one, i don't understand the Rules of D&D and what the different editions are about. You say you want a used copy, Azred, which i assume makes it seen very large, and unaffordable. Does it also state what classes and races are available in the gaem? What rules change from 2nd edition to 3rd or in a case where you may be able to answer (seeing how you have not the 3rd ed.) from 1st to 2nd? Any clueing in would help.

Lata skata.

D&D started as a pen & paper game. The 3rd additon is the lates in the rules. The players hand book has all the rules in it for the player.Race, class and other things u need to know as a player.
Im not sure of the price for the book think its under $25 new.I still play under the 2nd.Azred can tell u more about the 3rd.

Amazon.com says it will be released June 29. Seems like every website has a different date

Unfortunately, I know nothing of the 3rd edition rules, which is why I will probably buy a copy of the Player's book. As IWD2 won't be out for a while, I can familiarize myself with the new rules for character creation.
My reasons for wanting one used are purlely economic--since I don't play pencil-and-paper anymore, why spend any more than I need to?
