Having lots of fun soloing! - Page 2

I don't think I'd solo any character through BG1 without a Fighter or Thief component, and no character through BG2 without a Mage component. I've never successfully soloed either, but I've gotten pretty far in BG1. My Half-Elven Conjurer (with a roll of 96--yeah!) finally gave up when he couldn't beat the Flesh Golems in the cave (DAMN their Magic Resistance!) and didn't want to come back later. My Human Thief gave up when he got sick of not having a Bag of Holding to help carry all his crap around.

I'm going to try once more, with a character modeled after my real-life stats: A Neutral Good Half-Elven Mage/Thief, 14/16/12/17/13/14. Makes a change from the "All 18's" characters I used to play BG1 with. (But if I keep getting my butt kicked, I'll try again with all 18's.)

The other thing I am finding interesting is that the tempo of the game is quicker. With only one character to think about you can get on so much faster and you get to keep all the best equipment for yourself - cool. Fighter/Mage is great but sooner or later I'm gonna need some thief skills.
