Ahhhhhhhhh. Now I remember. Always hearing, "Nestled upon the cliffs, that rise from the sword coast..."

I'm surprised that, with my constant restarting syndrome, I'd have forgotten that.

Oh, forgive me, great Baldurs Gate gods!

nice i do remember developing a terrible fear of towns - i'd camp in the wilderness in preference to inns to avoid the assassins - i was on the run after all as the notes made clear

i rememeber not selling the reward notes because i thought it would make it more likely that other's would come after me

i can remember one wilderness map area (the one with drizzt and the gnolls i think) where one of the then tough adventuring parties had nearly killed us so we ran away all around the map picking up a procession of gnolls, skeletons and lord knows what that we proceeded to parade around the map trying to pick them off with arrows

my first PC was a halfling thief - obviously . . .

And do you remember the second time you played BG1, walking around Candlekeep, listening to the chanting monks, and bursting out laughing because what you had previously dismissed as irritating and meaningless drivel was actually the gist of the whole plot?

I also remember spending so much time in Candlekeep that I, as a pre-teen, somehow managed to memorise every single one of those chants.

You must gather your party before venturing forth.
You must gather your party before venturing forth.
You must gather your party before venturing forth.
You must gather your party before venturing forth.

Me: Khalid! WALK AROUND THE PILLAR! Ugh.

Hey, that teaches you important life lessons. Consider me at a restaurant with a group of five friends, one using the restroom. Consider the hostess who refuses to seat us unless we're all assembled...

"Guys! She says we must gather our party before venturing forth!"

Call me crazy but I could not play a second time. Any of the BG games, after the first time through, which I dearly loved, I loaded new games but it was just boreing after that. Maybe now that it has been 5 or 6 years since I played, it may be freash enough to play again. The wierd thing is I have played Wizardry 8 over 30 thimes and still love it. I will try BG1 again if I didn't loose it in the move.

I still can't believe i lurk at BG forums after all these years. I remember spending hour upon hour playing the original BG on its release here in Australia. At the time a good friend of mine also had the game and we used to share stories of our game advantures (did you see that? what weapons do you have? where are you up to? how many times did you die? i forgot to save!!! etc....). It turned into a bit of a powerplay on my first up go through the game as we both tried to finish it first and in our hurry did miss alot of game content . Not a good way to enjoy the game fully, but i still remember those times fondly on my old computer. I think we both played through the game (and the following ToSC release) a number of times. We were both into RA Salvatore at the time, and do fall under the 'Drizzt' spell when it came to buying the game (as rumours of his appearance in the game caught my attention). BG was my first PC RPG game experience, and what a way to loose your virginity eh . I still have my original BG characters saved on disk somehwere.

Played BGII on its release, and enjoyed taking my original BGI characters through the game a couple of times.

The ToB addon came and can you believe that i purchased it on its original release, but have not actually played it. Ever.

No excuses. Just with work and my laziness i've never played it. Still got the disk brand new and unused.

I had a few serious thoughts of getting stuck in, but with work and other things, i've never managed it.

I was actually thinking about starting from BG1 all over again and working my way through to the end. Something feels quite right about that

Just got to find the time!
