"Alright people, 'fess up! Who took it! Who took my shampoo!"
Another day in Rena's Pocket Plane was unfolding, and at the center of attention now, was an indignant Imoen. "Was it you, Minsc?!" Imoen yelled, as she grabbed Minsc and started sniffing all over him. "Minsc is bald," Minsc exclaimed in bewilderment, "Why would Minsc want Imoen's shampoo?" "Well maybe you took it for Boo!" "Boo says no. Boo does not like Imoen's shampoo." "Argh! Was it you then, Kelsey! I know I said we could share things, but not my shampoo!" "No dear..." Kelsey whimpered, "It was not me! I make my own shampoo!" "I know you make your own damn shampoo," Imoen grimly and steadily said, "But maybe you felt you needed something... extra." "I don't think even Kelsey is that perverted. Despite past experiences..." Rena interrupted, as she cracked her knuckles with relish over her memories of... 'punishing' Kelsey for 'improper' behaviour. "Ehehehe..." "NO! It really wasn't me! I'm not so dumb to incur your wrath!" "Well, then. Who else could it be?" Imoen fumed, "Jaheira?" "Feh! Perish the thought, child. You know as well as I do that I have my own supply," Jaheira retorted. "Rena? Was it you, Rena?" "Dear sister of mine. You know I do not use your brand... on principle." "Ces-Cespenar?" As one, the party looked at Cespenar, the Demonic butler of Rena. "Ooooh! Shiny ones!" Again as one, they said to themselves, "Nah." "Your cat?" "I rather die before letting any shampoo touch my fur," Rena's familiar hissed. "All the smart ones know that saliva is the way to go." "Ick, no thanks. Darn it all! Who then? Who-..." Imoen paused. There WAS one more, but him? She turned to rest her gaze upon the latest addition to their party. "You? Was it you?" "Are you blind, girl? Do I look like I have need for shampoo?" Sarevok shot back. Yes, the one and only Sarevok. Brother of Rena and Imoen through the divine bond that flows through all three of them. "Honestly, I sometimes question where you obtained the intelligence to become a Mage." Unperturbed, Imoen approached Sarevok and started sniffing. "Have you gone mad! What do you-" "IT IS YOU! YOU CREEP! Why in the Nine Hells did you steal my shampoo!" "I-I don't know what you're talking about! Leave me alone!" "No! I will not! Not until you explain yourself!" Sarevok harrumphed to himself and started coughing slightly. "I-I *erm-hrm* have no idea. It just... something... just came over me." The rest was an incoherent mumble. "YOU'RE BALD! What on Toril did you use my shampoo for?" "est" "Say WHAT?" "Chest. I used it for my chest." Imoen shrieked. ~~~~ ~~~~ To be continued... . . . . ~~~~ ~~~~ Author Notes] Sarevok's conversations with the party in ToB are some of the funniest around. The above was inspired by his early dialogues with Imoen( when Imoen agreed to give a part of her soul to Sarevok). You can see two examples in the following screenshots. you know, I may never have to install Baldur's Gate II in my machine. you know you make the game sound better than it would ever play for me. *guffaws* keep up the brilliant writing! now, for vengeance why shouldn't Imoen pluck all that hair from Sarevok's chest with magical tweezers to "prove" how competant a mage she can be (complete with Hold Annoying Spiritual Half-Brother Who I Really Want To Kick The Ass Of spells - better known as Hold Monster in Sarevok's case.)

One thing that the Kelsey-Imoen romance brings about, is the ill-timing of dialogues. Most of the time, these interruptions occur during battles, which is of course annoying since it hardly makes sense, and it disrupts the flow of combat.
At other times, it becomes surreal. Such as this time, when Imoen felt it was more important to flirt with Kelsey, instead of... say, warning Rena of the impending fireball of doom above her. ~~~~ ~~~~ Sarevok's first Deathbringer Assault was, appropriately enough, inflicted upon the traitor of Saradush, Kiser Jhaeri. This particular screenshot was also amusing in that the AI of both Minsc and Sarevok, decided to use Potions of Firebreath on Kiser. I can only imagine the party cheering, "Burn, you bas****! BURN!" ~~~~ ~~~~ During a fight with Gromnir's cronies in the upper levels, Rena scored her current personal best on one of them. At the moment, Rena is alternating between the Dagger of the Stars(DotS) and the Staff of Ram(+6) for backstabbing purposes. The chance to go invisible from using the DotS is lovely, but unfortunately, the chance of it triggering is pretty low( 15%). ~~~~ ~~~~ The battle with Gromnir can be best described in the following modified Football Quote, Quote:
This battle marked the first time Kelsey unleashed the full potential of the PRATI sequence. For those not in the know, PRATI stands for, Project Image + Robe of Vecna + Amulet of Power + Time Stop + Improved Alacrity For the battle with Gromnir, I chose to manually control Kelsey, and left the rest of the party to the devices of their AI Scripts. Shortly after the Time Stop ended, the battleground looked like this. A split second later, the ADHWs spreaded out and killed many things. Another split second later, Gromnir was pleading for help. And voila, before the ADHWs had even dissipated, Imoen stole the kill from Rena. Rena is not happy. ~~~~ ~~~~ To be continued... . . . . Coming up next... Watcher's Keep, and "The Dragons Strike Back". |

More screenshots of Sarevok's dialogue with the party.
Sarevok on Boo Sarevok & Imoen ~~~~ ~~~~ Entering the Watcher's Keep map meant triggering the Poison Badge encounter. No matter what you say, they will refuse to fight you. Pretty annoying to get yanked out without warning. Upon re-entering the map, the Poison Badge group will teleport you again to them, triggering a fight that has no meaning. Bittersnake is a pretty annoying unit, so I decided to turn the tables on them by Dire Charming it using the Staff of Domination. Kelsey had a Chain Contingency filled with 3 ADHWs, and when it triggered, Fallowmist pretty much died instantanously. His Mirror Image is from a Contingency set to trigger when an enemy is sighted. Between the combined might of Jaheira and Bittersnake, Bloodspike succumbed. Notice how Jaheira is still badly injured. Bloodspike has an insane ApR. Like it is on permanent Improved Haste or something. Bloodspear died to a ADHW. It had also been injuring itself because it had been targetting Jaheira, who was equipped with the Shield of Reflection. Around this point, the Dire Charm also wore off for Bittersnake. Cue another CC-Bomb to say, "Adios, Snakey." Finally, my favourite moment of the Poison Badge fight. Imoen's AI kicked in to cast Power Word Kill on Bloodcaster. Such a cool spell. Sold the spear for 6000gold and continued my way into Watcher's Keep proper. ~~~~ ~~~~ Level 1 was uneventful. ~~~~ ~~~~ Level 2 had the Chromatic Demon, and surprise, surprise! It is not immuned to Power Word Stun! I was pleasantly surprised to see Imoen cast PW:Stun on the CDemon, and thanks to that, the CDemon pretty much had no chance against the combined might of the entire party plus summons. This fight was handled purely by the AI. Even Imoen ended up beating on it with her staff. ~~~~ ~~~~ To be continued... |

Just a small update before Level 4.
Watcher's Keep Level 3: The Maze Level. The Maze itself was uneventful, other than that I got rewarded with the Thief's Hood, which I have upgraded for Rena to wear. Chose to gamble with the Cambion for the Wish scroll and the Spectal Brand. Refused to surrender the Wardstone after the third gamble because I wanted to try out the Deck of Many Things( never used it before). Some... things I found out. Despite what many have said... Rena got a +1 STR bonus from the stat bonus, INSTEAD of +1 DEX. I felt cheated. I reloaded and went a different route instead, and obtained the Ring of Protection +3, which Rena is using now. ~~~~ ~~~~ To be continued... |

Watcher's Keep Level 4:
---- ---- ---- ---- Deep in the bowels of Watcher's Keep, within a tiny room, a battle neared its' end around an ancient sarcophagus. "Imp-impossible! How could I have lost to a mere Rogue!" "Assassin." "It doesn't matter! A Rogue is a Rogue! You should have Imprisoned! You're an abomination! A freak of nature!" "Speak for yourself... Mister Demi-Lich." "I refuse to accept this! This is a cruel joke! I-" "Just die already." And with a final blow, the Assassin destroyed the unnamed Demi-Lich. The Assassin's name was 'Rena Ryuuguu', and the Demi-Lich that she had just vanquished, was the second one she had conquered in her life. She did not know it then, but it would be the last time she would ever get to encounter a Demi-Lich. A fortunate fate indeed, all things considered. As she started to loot her surroundings, a protective spell began to wear off from her being. With a shimmering shudder followed by a sudden silence, her 'Spell Immunity:Abjuration' protection dissipated. It had served her well in shielding her from the Demi-Lich's deadly Imprisonment spells. Rena was no Mage though. She only managed to gain the benefits of the spell from reading from a scroll. A skill she had picked up with Imoen's help, and though she loathe to admit it, Kelsey's too. "Oooo! What do we have here?" It was an ornate dagger, pocked with numerous small sockets; sockets that most probably once held precious stones. It was lightweight, but a heavy aura of magic possessed it. Rena smiled. The dagger was damaged now, but Cespesnar might be able to do something with it. If anything, he would be at the very least, overjoyed at the possibility of fitting 'shiny ones' into the sockets. "Ta-dum dee, da-dum doo dee doo~~" Rena sang to herself as she continued to scour the rest of the room for lootable valuables. ~~~~ ~~~~ Notes from the Author: Short of the Illithid's base and Saladrex, Rena more or less soloed her way through this level. This was because I badly wanted to improve her kill ratio to at least 30%+. Backstabbed Anti-Paladin Backstabbed Githyanki Captain Backstabbed Magic Golem Backstabbed Garock ~~~~ ~~~~ To be continued... Coming up next! The smartest Red Dragon ever met! |
