Isn't the simplest approach to simply load up 3 lower resists in a spell trigger (so you can get them off while he's visible) set up a true sight on both mages (to keep him visible and targetable) and then simply pound him with area effect spells? Three lower resists puts him with next to no magic resistance, at which point skull traps are enough to wipe him out, although higher level spells are nice. Skull trap (and any other area effect spell) ignores all his protections except magic resistance - why bother trying to beat down his protections when you can just blast him.

(I suppose you probably need a few death spells to get rid of his summons though)

Well, your sacrificing arcane power to get melee at a lower level then what a dedicated fighter class would have.

Another approach (apparently) is Improved Haste > True Sight > Improved Alacrity > Timestop > Shapechange : Mind Flayer > Brain-gnaw, although I suspect you might need to have Draconis visable during the Time Stop to have this work if he's become the dragon. Allegedly you can do this to him in human form and get the whole battle over and done with in one swoop.
An old cheesy strategy it would seem that until today I'd never tried myself, but I have tested it now and confirm it works. No XPs, but 'hey'.

Like what was said, Tenser's is good with multi Fighter/Mages *when they've run out of spells*

That spell is mostly a last resort kind of thing.

That works well if you have a couple ADHW to throw in afterwards.

In BGII SOA dragons can be killed really easy with a mage with wand of cloudkill plus some normal cloudkill spells. Dragons have magic resistance, but not breathweapon resistance... remember that. Wands are very usefull in Dragon battles.

In ToB Dragons are laughable with high level thieves. Just set out a couple of special traps (60-90 damage EACH) and say goodbye to the critters.

Whew! THANKS, AeonsLegend! For a minute there, I was afraid I was going to have to cheese my way through Dragon fights!

Well, no need to get sarcastic, you could always try it the hard way. No one said you couldn't. It's just more difficult that way. I'm just pointing out that Jan can take out the entire gang of dragons thrown at you on his own.

Don't worry, sarcasm is just one of the many services cheerfully offered. It's not that most people on these boards deliberately try to find the most difficult ways of doing things (although we have had a rousing tale of a No-Reloads Solo Cleric on Insane, through Tactics and Ascension), it's just that we take a dim view of cheesy abuses of the game's AI. Mindless creatures such as Golems and Skeletons deserve tactics like Cloudkill from out of their line of sight, but highly intelligent beings such as Dragons would clearly be far too smart for that sort of thing. I always try to give my enemies the respect they deserve....unless of course they try to use cheese on me, like Nature's Beauty or whatnot, in which case all bets are off.
