It turns out you CAN summon Imoen before Sarevok is revived. I simply told him I'd look around, summoned Imoen, told goodbye to good old Valygar and made her give a pice of her soul, and then... yes, murdering the poor girl.
*hides in shame* Sarevok rocks!
