i also tried to solo with swashbuckler/Mage. MUCH better!! with that class you get lots of cake, and a damn big belly to eat it!

Hmmm.....as long as you've got the difficulty on "Normal" until your F/M/T gets his full hitpoints, the only thing really wrong with the class is that it can't reach 9th Level spells unless you remove the XP cap. But I concur, Mage/Thief is better--just about the only thing a F/M/T can do that a M/T can't is do Greater Whirlwind during a Timestop, and can wear helmets sooner. (But with Ioun Stones, who needs helmets?)

FTM is exclusivly for soloing, or, for XP cap removing.

They are really good if you run them in their proper way... Think more along the lines of a superbard rather than as a fighter, and a thief, and a mage. Use spells to improve combat to insane levels of power (Tenser's Transformation is HORRENDOUSLY evil here), and use backstab to the best of its abilities. Toss in a few Sunfires since your soloing, and you've got a foe worth running away from.

I haven't tried one out in TOB yet though. I should sometime. After the Blade soloing plans. I can't wait to try one out after working a little bit with Haer'Dallis. Give him Kudane in offhand, and either of his swords in on hand, 3 attacks per round, 4 with Offensive Spin. Toss in spells liberally. :>

Cleric/Mage/Thief isn't a valid class, sadly. A class like that would REALLY kick some ass: The only drawbacks are you can't use bladed or piercing weapons, and you're limited to 1 attack per round. Nope, the only triple-classes are F/M/T and F/C/M, both of which (in my opinion) are better off without their Fighter components.
