The best fun I had slaying a Dragon was against the Shadow Dragon from SoA... none of my party had any cool abilties, very few decent items, only a smattering of nifty spells.
It was a running game of cat-and-mouse, with my Cavalier facing off against the thing while the other 5 remained behind, using powerful bows and slings to hurt the dragon. Whenever the Cavalier was knocked aside, the character who was next targetted ran for it (haste, resist fear, bless, chant and the resst giving us a chance here), allowing the other 4 to split up and fire spells and god knows what else at the thing while the Cavalier recovered... with Minsc or Anomen occasionally distracting the creature from one of the weaker memebers of the party if needs be. Very tense, very tough, took about 10 to fifteen tries and the final, successful battle lasted about half an hour - but a great sense of achivement when it was done.

Heh... reminds me of my own Cavalier... ... what a fight. Back in the beginning when my Dragon-fighting skills were not so refined.
