Sometimes reading this Message board is so discouraging b/cos you all know nearly every area off by heart it seems while I haven't finished the game yet. Is the shop of silence in Ulgoth's Beard? Also what is going on at the High Hedge?

Shop of Silence is across the road from Sorcerous Sundries against the wall. IIRC it has some good thief items, but could be wrong.
As for what's happnin at High Hedge, (minor spoilers)

I don't quite understand your question. The only quest I can remember is the "Melicamp, anti-chickenator" one; apart from this you meet Kivan (an NPC) and some thief that reckons he can rip off High Hedge, but chickens out and buggers off no matter how you answer him. Hope this helps, if not, re-post with a bit more detail and I'll help as best I can.

The Shop of Silence is located in the entrance area of Baldur Gate City, two doors to the left when you first walk in.

There's a party at High Hedge, yo. Go there and join in. The guy in the keep there is a lot of fun. Really, just go there and you'll figure out what's going on.

Not to mention that you can go nab Kivan at the very beginning of the game. IMHO, Coran is better, though, but you have to do a real speed-run if you want to grab him quickly. (I can get him within 9 days! Woo!)

That is why he isn't worth it, as being at Chapter 5 in 4 days is just not good!!! (Well, it is and it isn't if you follow).

Stick with Kivan!!! Best all rounder on the game!
