Encountered the same problem but got around it. My sorcerer and Jaheira stuck in the elven city in the very room the elven queen held her speech, the rest was imported into the expansion. I then spoke with the faces and the female bhaal spawn attacked my pc in THE ELVEN CITY. After her death MY WHOLE party was teleported into the pocket plane and everything was ok. Give it a try, because otherwise you lose the nice necklace given to you from Ellesime when you import an earlier savegame.
