I heard that Planescape: Torment is incredibly buggy however.

I can verify that. Should you find it somewhere, immediately after installing the game, before actually running let alone playing it, install the patches. You can find them, for example, here.

[/QUOTE]Really? The only problem I ever experienced with Torment was the infamous memory leak, which caused it to slow down during play. The patches linked to by Iron Greasel will fix that.

It does help, as with any Infinity Engine game, to have a passing knowledge of Infinity Explorer, the CLUA Console etc. in order to fix minor quest bugs, but this is no more so than in BG1 or (especially) BG2.

BG1 is great!

it is very different to BG2 and really is great to play from start of BG1 to the end of TOB. It's a very different game with a great adventuring feel that many agree BG2 does not deliver as strong. Any who have not passed it are missing out. Completing it also gives your character +1 to all stats except wisdom which gets +2. Also you can convert your character to BG2 and select a kit for them should you wish. EG) you can pass a fighter in BG then import him into BG2 and change him to a bezerker or kensai.

I've soloed a necromancer through the whole saga and believe me it is great!
