Haer'Dalis: "Oh glorious joy! I have found a wee little duckling with worse statistics than me!"

Nerf-runs are possible... but I would advise such runs to be done on a non-modded installation.

The obstacle that SixOfSpades mentions can be done with ranged hit'n'run tactics.

That reminds me of a game where the PC was an utter coward: I forget his class and stats, but his AI was set to Thief(Defensive) or something like that, so his immediate reaction to any form of danger was to run away from it--in the Boots of Speed. I know he always made sure to wear the best armor available, 'cause he didn't wanna get hurt! This worked surprisingly well, actually, as the guy couldn't exactly be killed all that easily, and the rest of the party could take care of offense. The funniest thing is that he was Romancing Jaheira, so it looks like she was able to find an even bigger chicken than Khalid.
The Reluctant Bhaalspawn.

That is an awsome thread!

Playing a nerfed character with a party is not that difficult because you can simply have your party do all your work for you. Much more challenging is having the whole party nerfed (or soloing).
What I liked best was Midget Gem's Suicidal Gnomes Party. He actually finished all of Icewind Dale using 6 gnomes whome he kept at level 1 throught. All gnomes so no druids/paladins/rangers, no sorcerors/monks/barbarians/kits (since it's IWD). Link here (spoilers in of course):
http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/cg...c;f=3;t=003307

Something like this was attempted before in BG1 by someone else. The reason I like IWD better was because in BG only PC was level 1 while the NPCs where a bit higher (still low levels though, they didnt level up either but you kept them at what level you found them) and BG is more flexible hence either. Still that BG1 was a excellent game too.

For a nerfed game rasther than having nerfed characters you can give yourself restriction rules: like no resting ever, no memorizing spells ever, no casting spells ever, no using ceratin items ever (like potions, any weapons other than darts), no buying anything ever.

Ah, the suicidal gnomes. Good times, good times.

I think I might put *all* of these ideas together.

1.Set my avatar to "Nobleman"
2.Set my script to "Thief Coward"
3.Wear the boots of speed, and nothing else.
4. Never carry anything save the occasional potion of Healing.

Gonna be interesting, I'm sure.

Ah, but that's when I was speaking of a Nobleman game, where the PC is allowed to do nothing. Not even Summoning items could help you win the Transformation and the Dream, because any summons would quickly get its butt whooped.

That dream avatar of Bhaal shares the same fatal flaw as the default Wraith Sarevok from the 9Hells. They both use unenchanted weapons.

So if you want to retain the spirit of the Nobleman game, you can just summon any summon that is immuned to unenchanted weapons to beat the crap of the avatar. The air elemental from the Staff of Air comes to mind.

i'll need restoraton scolls though - how about i just buy from temples . . . actually does the woman on the roof of watchers keep count as a temple? and where can i find not buy something as a solo character that does fire or acid damage and isn't arrows . . ?

definite potential here . . .

You can find darts of wounding here and there and IIRC they can kill trolls.
