Wildmages are fun. And I myself use chaos-shield frequently so the wildsurges are rarely fatal, and sometimes i get positive ones like cast magic twice.

But watch out for "rolls twice" "change target" and "cast magic twice" in one.

My own "Best" Wild Surge is getting an Area-of-Effect surge, on PfMW. Oh yeah, baby.

One member here had a GREAT story of the final battle of ToB: He was running a Wild Mage, solo I believe, and he was truly at the end of his rope, he was nearly out of all spells and he didn't know what to do. Happily, the final boss was Near Death as well, and this guy looked at his spellbook--no Chaos Shields left, but he did have a single Nahal's Reckless Dweomer remaining, so he cast it right at the enemy, hoping for something, ANYTHING, that could kill the boss.
Wild Surge: MOOO!
He had just beaten the game with a cow. I believe it was a full ten minutes before he could pick himself up off the floor again.
