As previously discussed - SPOILERS:

The Elven Court Bow is a long bow, whereas the others (except for the Mana Bow) are short bows. If you're looking for a good long bow until you get the Mana Bow (Forest of Tethyr after the Underdark), try Heartseeker +3 (in Windspear Hills).

Heartseeker is a composite bow ain't it? Long bows can be used by bards, whereas composites cannot.

Without checking, I believe you're right. Therefore, SxE: if you're playing a bard (or any other not-really-a-figher class) then Heartseeker (and any other composite long bow) is out for you.

I liked the court bow and the heartseeker, Gesen fires a little slowly... But I'm using the heartseeker right now because I have a strength of 18/?
Edit: I only use two handed swords if I can. They kick ass and are more aethisicly(not gonna win any spelling contests) pleasing.

Put ammo in it. (This does not increase the ApR, only the speed at which the projectiles move.) You will lose the "strikes as +4" part of the enchantment, but Gesen's extra Electrity damage will ride piggyback on the actual arrow.

"Aesthetically."

There is a good blade for sale called Blades of the Roses. A certain sword near the gates will help you greatly against a specific type of opponents.
I have never figured out what is so great about the Blade of Roses. It's THACO bonus is nice, but I don't really care for it's "extra ability" at all. It might be handy for a Bard or a Paladin (classes which require a high number in that stat), but I don't see any practical use for it with any other class. There are just too many other swords with MUCH better abilities available.

I definitely agree with the sword at the City Gate. DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!!!

Since you don't mind being spoiled SxE, here is a link to the most informative site I have found regading BGII --> Baldur's Gate II at GameBanshee

That specific link will take you directly to the Weapons Page, where you can look up every single weapon available in BGII. You can also get detailed info on every class and race, and the walkthroughs are very nice too (if you like that type of thing).
