I think I'm blind!

It's all coming clear to me now- the bumping into things, having to feel someone's face to know what they look like.

I removed the darts and checked that the AI is off, but still he insisted on getting right up to an enemy to fight (a lich I stumbled across; not a good event). I checked that he wasn't blind, forgetting the possiblity that it's just not showing on his picture. I'll try that tonight.

You know what the saddest part is? I think he may have been blind all along. As a kensai, he was always next to an enemy so I never thought anything of it. Going into dark rooms, however, he couldn't see the hand in front of his face. It was annoying how little he could see. If I was lucky, he could go one cursor length forward at a time. I assumed that was because he's human.

To test the blindness, I'll use the resurrection rod I have. Because I'd rather save that for someone who's actually dead, if the problem is that he's blind, is there another way to cure blindness?

Yeah Lymond, you are definently blind. I think a temple should be able to cast the heal spell on you. That would fix your problem!

I believe this kind of permanent blindness is caused by Holy/Unholy blight and is fixed by the baldurdash fixpack

Help, I'm still blind!

One thing I haven't done is to try and arm him with a sling. I thought as a kensai, he couldn't use ranged weapons.

I used a resurrection rod on him (didn't work).

I removed all his equipment, in case it was some funky problem, and it didn't make a difference.

I don't want to install the baldurdash fixpack, because I've heard it's not good to do that mid game, and I'm not sure I want some of the modifications. I don't want to install TOB for the same mid game problem.

I've gone to temples, but the only services I get are the scrolls and potions they sell.

Any suggestions on what to do? I can survive the way it is, but I'd really like to use some of the ranged spells.

did you try casting heal on him? don't go to the temple, just let your priest cast the spell. if it still doesn't work, I really think you should get the game all patched up. to avoid the mid game problem, simply uninstall your current game (except for the save; better move the save to other directory and clean the Black Isle/BGII - SoA folder) and then re-install the game; this time, install ToB/ToB latest patches, and latest Baldurdash fixpack for ToB. Then move back the save foloder.

there is cleric spell "cure deciase". It should help (acording to what is written in the spell description).

Also-give him thrown daggers if you like to have ranged weapon. there are some in the game that will actually return to you, saving thus a lot of space, time and money.

Cure desease won't help. Try getting a temple to cast a [Lesser | Greater] Restoration on you.

Thanks for the help, all!

Jaheira cast the heal spell this morning and the blindness is gone!

The only one hurt was Minsc, who was on the receiving end of some magic missiles (I had to test things out, naturally).
