If I've correctly understood, speed factor determines who strikes first in combat. for example, a halberd wielding fighter against a long sword wielding fighter. In this battle, the Long Sword(speed factor=5) wielding fighter will strike first, because the speed factor of a halberd is 9. An unenchanted ninjato has a speed factor of 5, an unenchanted dagger a speed factor of 2. Generally, the enchantment's strength will be subtracted from a weapon's speed factor (ie, a dagger +2 will have a speed factor of 0, a ninjato +1 will have a speed factor of 4, and a halberd +4 will have a speed factor of 5).
