"Potent". To put it mildly, yes. Comparing yourself with Elminster would dwarf Elminster as if he was the kobold next door. You become a God (not to mention your party) whether you want it or not!

Shadowkeeper is good for solving problems, bugs and stuff like that (when you don't get an item which you should've gotten anyway).
I know. That`s why I said plot important items.

Here's what I do: I use CTRL + J.
So my char's don't move any faster in combat then they should and I can get from one side of the map to the other in a couple of seconds.

And I don't abuse that when in combat.
It's up to each one to decide what to do with all these tricks.

I also use it. For the sake of time nothing less.

There's still a difference between not getting and losing an item IMHO. If you lose an item, tough luck, go find it.

I agree. It`s a big diffrence. If you don`t get it is probably your fault. Be more careful. (Well except when it come to nasty little critters called bugs) But if you lost it, that is the way it is. Learn to except the consequences of your actions.

What would be an instance when you need to be careful to get an item? And if you don't get it, how would that be your fault?

*Dazed and confused look on face*

My reply was based on the difference "not getting" i.e. a bug, and "losing" i.e. just your own fault.

Wow, more people responded than I thought. I decided to go back and move everybody's movement rate back down to normal. I've played the game through maybe 5 times in total (working on 6)and never done it yet, so why start now.
I do however think that "if it feels good, do it" does apply to computer gaming. What a person shouldn't do if he goes on an uncontrollable cheatfest is compare him/herself to people who don't.

Sometimes you just gotta see if having all your stats at 25 WOULD make a difference.

I think people(maybe not everybody, but a majority)never finish one of those type of games. We feel like we are cheating ourselves and revert back to a normal character. You know, normal, the one where you sat in front of the character generation screen for 3 hours trying to get all 18's (it has to be posssible dmn it!)
Moral of the story: I lost my train of thoght, got to go create a character

::raises hand:: There is a problem with Control-J... Sometimes, a plot-related NPC might spawn on a map and attempt to talk to you, but you zip past them. A messenger or someone like that. It's a small chance, but it's there. I would advise caution.
