Honestly, you have 3 priests in your lineup so far (you, Aerie, and Jaheira). You really do not need that many. In addition, you have the (cheesy) ability to cast all cleric and druid spells (bug in the spell system allows a ranger/cleric to literally cast all priest spells in the game). Thus, choose whether you will romance Jaheira or Aerie, and get rid of the other one. That leaves two open slots. Imoen will give you one wizard, but you could really use another one. If you choose to romance Aerie, then she can be the backup wizard (giving you 1.5 wizards once you get Imoen back). In addition, you can get to a 20 reputation without having to listen to Jaheira whine about balance (Yoshimo will whine about it, but who cares what he thinks ). Personal recommendation: if you can tolerate Aerie, then romance her over Jaheira (Jaheira's romance/quests are buggy, too). Also, if you go get Imoen back quickly, Aerie is plenty enough mage to do the stuff you need to do (especially with Keldorn in the party; he saves quite a few spell slots with your mage by being able to dispel and true sight).

If you really want to try Valygar, I would also recommend Mazzy. They have a good number of dialogs together. Valygar is solid at backstabbing (something you will lack with only Imoen as your thief), and with the right equipment is a solid all-around warrior. Mazzy is a demon with a bow, but give her a strength belt and she is quite nasty on the front lines, too. With those two, Keldorn, and you on the front lines, you have plenty of beefy guys up front, two priests in the party, and two mages in the party. Tank heavy but otherwise balanced.

Hm, that sounds good. I've never been a fan of Jaheira--the constant griping, man!--so I'll dump her and keep Aerie. Loved Mazzy, so I'll pick her up and Valygar. I agree that there are too many clerics. It's funny because I originally had too many thieves--Imoen, me, Yoshimo--so I guess I need to brush up on my character creation! I do like the druid spells, though, and if I can have them without keeping Jaheira, all the better.

So, in the end, this will be my party:

me
Aerie
Keldorn
Imoen/Yoshimo
Mazzy
Valygar

Right?

Sounds like a plan. Enjoy!

I can't seem to get away from my favorite character lineup.

Me (Whatever class fancies me at the time)
Minsc (Gotta have him)
Jaheira (Decent fighter and her bi#@#y attitude adds flavor)
Aerie (Too cutesy to dump)
Nalia (Replaces Imoen until you get her back)
Keldorn (If I'm not a paladin, you need him for Carsomyr)

I rotate the last two to do the various quests. I generally end up with Imoen and Keldorn or Imoen and Nalia, depending on whether I want more magic or swords. In this particular game, I prefer fighters. All you really need is tanks and one or two mages to knock off protection spells. If you want a challenge, run a mage heavy party. Effective magery in this game is a pain in the butt. Too many spells and counter-spells and counter-counter-spells!
