There's also another suit of unenchanted Full Plate in ToSC, for those of you who (like me) prefer unenchanted Full Plate.

If I remember correctly, the Ankheg Platemail has the same AC as unenchanted Full Plate, the only upside to using it was the low weight and the insane bonus to slashing weapons (-9 or something ridiculous). I also prefer unenchanted, for a ring or cloak of protection +2.

And, Synthos, I think that Drizzt's chainmail is the same AC as Full Plate (regular chainmail AC 5, Chainmail +4 AC 1) Looks cool though and you get Twinkle, Frostbrand and 12,000 XP too!

If I remember well the best AC has some armour from Durlags Tower (I think) it had AC=-1 (Full Plate+1 has AC=0).

I believe you actually make out the best AC-wise with nonmagical full plate mail and the ring of protection +2. The ankheg armor is lighter, and in that respect it is really great armor too. By the time your characters are well into negative AC territory it starts to become academic.

And since the spoil has been given, I would add that if you wish simply to acquire the full plate +1, you could choose to resolve the plot up to the fight with Tamoko (what would plot-wise be the penultimate battle), but then leave the Undercity after fighting her and go off to do the Durlag's quests, etc. And/or Dark Side quests. Mind you, that wouldn't be terribly realistic if you're playing the game in more of the roleplaying vein, i.e., responding as you would if you were actually in that world presented with those choices.

Actually, the first time I played the game I ended up doing just that. I couldn't figure out how to win the final battle (I was still a relatively an inexperienced player and the party was fairly weak at level 5-6). So from the save camped outside of the Temple of Bhaal prior to the final battle I took the party back for more adventuring to level up some more, get more powerful weapons, items, and spells, etc., by doing the Tales quests.

Thanks for all the posts so far everyone, although I have got one more question regarding armour:
I have got the Ankheg armour by killing an ankheg and taking its shell to the bloke in bergost, however, he only seems to want to make one set for me, is there any way that i can get him to make me another piece of armour or do i have to go elsewhere, also can you make anything good from wyvern heads??

Sorry - only one Angheg plate. Second can be found in some secret place in Nashkel area. Wyvern head (one) can be turned for reward in Beregost. Probably first you have to talk to someone (Cor?) who tell you about this reward.

No, you just have to bring the wyvern head to the temple to the east of the city.
