Yeah, I killed the Ghoul with the name but he had no wardstone! I've never found a Compass Wardstone, but there are a couple I haven't Identified yet.... if you're sure that killing that Ghoul is what lets me into the room with the chair, I'll just go ahead and hack the thing into my inventory. I hate bugs....especially in areas I've never been before.

I sympathise Six', as I too cannot get past the Islanne room either. The only thing I can think of that I've done wrong is in my Q & A sessions. As for wardstones, it sounds like you have the same sort as me, and I don't think you can waste one: they open specific areas as far as I'm aware. Possibly, there is a room that you haven't discovered yet in the Slime Area. Just a suggestion, as I managed to get to the throne room without any problems. That should take you to your third interview.

AFAIK the levers on 2 fiddle with the doors on that level. I haven't noticed anything else - but then again if I've already triggered it, would there be something to notice? If it needs to be done, let us know.

BTW I know it's a stupid question, but is Ike the skeleton on the ground floor? It's just that the chap wouldn't talk to me at all.

Hm, you cannot make mistakes in the Q&A-Sessions. If you take the wrong answer, the statue will toast you. If you answer right, you will be teleported ou again. Did you talk to Durlag after the 3rd interview?

I figured it out--it was a bug after all. You know that machine that says "Insert Bone Wardstone to disable the Rune Carpet?" Well, I sent Minsc, who was carrying every blessed Runestone I'd ever found, up to the thing.
Your Party Has Lost An Item.
You sense that something nearby has been turned off.
Okay, I thought, that's another obstacle down. Then I get stuck. On an impulse, I cheat an Identify Scroll into the game and have Imoen ID that last Wardstone. What do you know, it's the Bone Wardstone! The damned machine ate the wrong one, and it didn't even give me my change back! A clear case of justified cheating if I ever saw one.
Don't worry about getting 'past' the Islanne room, Lord Brass--only Durlag can open that door, or it opens after the 3rd interview. I found out that you CAN make mistakes--as long as the guy you pick to do the talking has lots of HP and the Boots of Speed, and everyone else is on the other side of the room. Some of those questions are kinda vague....

Ike is that shyster in Ulgoth's Beard who wants to charge you some gold to take you on a tour of the upper levels of Durlag's. Big whoop. Then again, there are opinions (see above) that he carries a Wardstone and that his presence triggers the 1st appearance of the Demonknight.....and I've heard that if you manage to kill the Demonknight at his matinee showing, he's carrying a magic item that he doesn't have if you kill him during the evening performance.

Yeah, I wondered about that skeleton too. No real reason for him (her?) to be there, except atmosphere. At first I thought he might be trapped....a booby-trapped enemy would be pretty cool.

Oh, yeah--I didn't need to operate the machine with the 3 switches (on Level-2) at all, at least not to clear the place out and get downstairs. There was a door barring my passage back to the room at the beginning of the level, meaning I couldn't go back upstairs & get the Arrows of Detonation I'd stashed, but I decided I could live with that.

Identifying those wardstones did seem like a good idea from when you get the first one. I didn't see the point of it really as their isn't anything to tell, but I thought that if the game's gunna' be that way, we'll havta play along!
Ridiculous though, as a reasonably proficient mage should be able to decipher the runes on it. Wouldn't you think?

So the question is...where does Ike hang out? You see him when you first go to Durlag's, but after that does he wait outside or something. (Redundant question really as you can't get back up to visit him again can you.)

Anyway, that means that I still have to go back and replay this section, 'cause I can't get into that room. I don't believe I've talked to Durlag either.

BTW Six', does that mean you've got one wardstone less then you may need?

I agree with Mages being able to read the Wardstones--they should have rather low Lore values, so Imoen could decipher their meanings. Then again, in the Tolkien books, the Dwarves used two sets of runes: The basic set that just about everybody knew (seen in places like Thorin's map, Balin's tomb, etc), and then Gandalf makes a reference to the secret Dwarven tongue "that they teach to no one." Maybe if I'd had a Dwarf in my party, he'd have been able to ID them, no matter what his Lore was! (And if that isn't the case, well, it SHOULD be. It'd make the game cooler.)

Which room can you not get into, Brass? The one southeast of Islanne? Don't worry, that's the exit from the level. If you've been to all three interviews (and maybe talked to Durlag, the way is open.

No, after turning off the Rune carpet I has exactly as many Wardstones as I should have had--I just had a Bone wardstone where I should have had a Compass Wardstone. Like I said, the machine simply ate the wrong one.
