My first-roll party (just chose the race & class and took the first roll
without reassigning points for each character) is finishing up some odds & ends before heading to the Underdark. No NPC's allowed to join: they're all too powerful! They're done with Chapter 3 and about ready to go to Spellhold, but haven't done any quests outside the city yet. Corin: Human Male Undead Hunter (level 10) Str: 12 Dex: 11 Con: 11 Int: 8 Wis: 15 Chr: 18 Notes: He's the Bhaalspawn. Don't all cower at once. I created him specialized in two-handed sword and two-handed weapon style... before realizing that his natural strength is too low to equip two-handed swords! Fortunately, even at creation his Draw Upon Holy Might was barely strong enough to let him equip one, and the game only forces you to drop items you are too weak to equip on level-ups. So he was able to get by using DUHM and his crossbow until finally getting the Girdle of Hill Giant Strength. Between that, Lilacor, his natural level drain immunity, and the Light Crossbow of Speed he's pretty effective now. Keithy: Half-Elf Female Ranger/Cleric (level 9/9) Str: 14 Dex: 13 Con: 15 Int: 11 Wis: 16 Chr: 8 Notes: She's the only character to get any exceptional attributes important to his/her class with the 15 Con and 16 Wis. Dual-wields Flails, Maces, and/or Hammers, and normally uses Mauler's Arm as her off-hand weapon to boost her strength to 18. Her favorite main hand weapon so far has been The Sleeper, and she just got Wyvern's Tail. We just now have enough money (after numerous other purchases) to upgrade the Mace of Disruption for her also, so despite the fact that we haven't been to the D'Arnise Keep yet she's very well equipped. Vex: Elf Female Thief/Mage (level 11/11) Str: 9 Dex: 12 Con: 14 Int: 10 Wis: 18 Chr: 16 Notes: Her Dex has actually been by far the most difficult attribute to compensate for... you lose out on LOTS of bonus Thief skill points when you don't have 18-19 Dex. She started with 100 in traps & locks, but that took all her points. She now has just maxed Detect Illusions as her 3rd thief skill. It takes 3 potions of genius to get her to be able to scribe unlimited spell scrolls. Money's been tight so I haven't done that yet, but I have tons of scrolls stashed for when I do. She's not as accurate with the Tuigan Bow as I'd like, but she does well enough with it, and just found a Katana +2 in case anything gets too close. Shimmi: Gnome Male Cleric/Illusionist (level 9/11) Str: 17 Dex: 16 Con: 14 Int: 12 Wis: 10 Chr: 8 Notes: My strongest and most dextrous character. Yay. Not bad with the Sling of Seeking, and also has a Staff Mace if anything gets close. He's the character least impacted by using random stats... pretty much he loses out on a few bonus Cleric spells and needs Int potions (only 2) to fill his spellbook. He was actually able to use Strength of One as a good buff for this party for a while.
