Your thief obviously scouted ahead (casting Improved Invisibility on himself!) He saw some fancy mage (called Tolgerias) who immediately began casting True Sight, so the mage-part thought: "That dude needs to be dominated!", so he casted domination on the mage, and made him use all sorts of horrible spells on his apprentice!

Good luck!
Quality idea! How do I get my (domination)spell off before he catches and butchers me???

Another good tactic! I tried this, but they keep casting very powerful spells at me, which kill me instantly. The one where a skull appears and spills a gas everywhere......

Do you have any +3 or higher weapons?? If you don't, its virtually impossible to exit the sphere. If you do - it is still impossible - you will need all the luck in the world. There are rather annoying lil critters father there, the ones you WILL have to kill in order to exit the place.

Of course, you can CLUA escape the place, but its better that you reload... Planar sphere is not a place to gather xp, its a place before which you have to gather XP

But try, and if you eventually survive, it will be a great school of tactics for you )

I would definitely suggest some cheese - such a desperate situation it is

Thanks for you bluntness! I'm doomed then! I'll keep trying, I might just be able to pull this amazing feat off!

No, but all of my characters are of too low a level to take on these fellas!
no, I don't think so...as I recall, I went in the planer sphere with a 6 people party, and my PC is a figher/mage at about lvl 11/11 [which means that our parties may have the same average party lvl].

the important thing is to position your party well and cast some summons immediately after you open the door and spot them (quick summons, not trhough spells, but from items). Haste everyone to get into good position since deadly ADHW will be casted against you, you need to situate the weaker party memembers out of that effect area. then, the usual remove magic + breach combo and disrupting them cast spells (if you have Jaheira, her nature friends will get the job done; if not, rapidly firing ranged weapons). If they get protectiion up again, just keep breaching and removing them (get as many breaches and remove magic in your spell books as possible).

planar sphere is much, much tougher than the 5 flagons quest...

ADD: ok, I just checked my saved games, luckily I have one that after I got pass Tolgerias and his apprentice, my party was,

PC: F/M -- 10/11
Mazzy: 10
Jaheira: F/Druid -- 10/12
Valygar: 9
Aeire: C/M -- 10/11
Jan: Illusionist/T -- 10/11

if you get your F/M/T to lvl 10/10/10, you might have a even higher level party than mine.

That spell you saw with the brown skull and gas is Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting.

Why YES! Tolgerias can cast level 8 spells, welcome to the pain kid.

Some popular early tactics include backstabbing the apprentice while distracting Tolgerias with summons. Not mass summons though... but one summon by one summon. The tactic here is to deplete his spellbook. A Mage with no spells is a dead Mage.

The apprentice concentrates on summoning, so killing her as soon as possible is important if you do not want to get badly outnumbered.

Low level ways to counter ADHW include Mirror Image and Spell Immunity:Necromancy. Spiders are especially good in this fight for their ability to poison their targets. Feel free to cast some Web beforehand.

Good luck... the fun is just beginning.

Translation: Tolgerias is going to look like a weenie compared to some of the stuff you are going to encounter.

Well the apprentice won't see you as it is Improved Invisibility, and otherwise you just stay out of sight. Tolgerias won't see you because you will be casting Domination on him before he can finish his True Sigh spell.
