Thanks all. This has been a very helpful discussion. I've decided that my character is a loner (thus solo) and therefore mainly in touch with his Ranger/Nature side. However, he's been exposed to interesting weapons during his encounters with other people and brief stays in cities.

So, he'll have two stars in club and sling, in addition to stars in two weapon fighting. But, he will be playing with new, intriguing weapons like Flails and War Hammers and building his proficiencies in them (starting, of course, with no stars and increasing as he goes).

Certainly adds more color to my character.

Do you have the Item Upgrade Mod?Becusase if you do have it do not put points in Clubs. Make Fulcrum +4 and you have Grandmastery in Clubs!

I think I'm going to avoid the item upgrade mod this time around. While I admit that there is a general lack of clubs in the game, I think the item upgrade mod's weapons are overpowered (besides, I'm looking forward to the club of detonation in a solo character's hands!). If I were playing Tactics, I think I would feel differently.

Hey, the best character is always the one you want to play. And one of the best ways to get into your character is to have a strong concept right from the start. Sounds like you have a good vision of what your character should be, so you'll definitely enjoy.

Yeah, the club is all but worthless in a group (unless you have ridiculous amounts of fire resistance on all of the people), but solo it will help clear rooms pretty quick.
