Don't forget about potions! Invulnerability ones are sprinkled liberally throughout the testing rooms, as are giant strength potions. If you have a save BEFORE Suldanessellar, I suggest you start back from there. Yeah, you'll have to do most of Chapter 7 again. But you'll have a better idea of what to purchase and which spells to prepare. If you do decide to reload... --Joluv in the Copper Coronet sells a useful mace, +2/+5 to demons. --Suggested potion shopping list: magic blocking/shielding, strength, storm giant strength, agility, fortitude, invulnerability, clarity, and the all-important extra healing. --Suggested spell shopping list: Protection from Magical Energy/Weapons, True Sight, Khelben's Warding Whip, Mantle/Improved Mantle, Mordenkainen's Sword, Ruby Ray of Reversal, Summon Djinni/Efreeti/Hakeashar, Abi Dalzim's Horrid Wilting, Maze, Simulacrum, Chain Contingency, Spell Trap, Spellstrike, Time Stop. Be careful! Some of these scrolls can only be found in certain places, and if you miss them, they're gone forever. (Unless you have ToB.) --Suggested gear list: Everyone should have +3 or better weapons. Your fighters should have -10 AC. Your tank should have -15 AC, at least. Your mages/thieves should have at least -5 AC. Check Cromwell to make sure you've upgraded everything. --Make one last pass through Athkatla to make sure you haven't missed any experience to be had. ![]() --In the tree fight, don't be afraid to unload everything you have at him. --Pick your memorized spells carefully for the second (and last) fight. If you don't think you're going to use a spell, skip it for something you know you're going to use. --Rest to rememorize before touching the door in hell. --Buff, prepare, and make a game plan before touching the door. About halfway through the fight, Irenicus will zip away and leave you with a Misled image and the demons. You can either do what Faceman suggested and summon stuff to keep the demons occupied while the party whacks the stuffing out of Irenicus, or you can do what Dobian suggested and kill all the demons before dispelling the Irenicus illusion, rebuffing somewhat, and putting the smackdown on the real Irenicus. Just don't try to rest after everyone's come out to play--you can't. ![]()

this is a real cheese: but, some people dont like using it.but its worth a try, if you get too frustrated battle-ing irenicus
simply cast numerous skull traps near rhe door (about 10), then cast protection from magic energy to all your party.after you r ready, then call irenicus to come instantly.when he comes, the skull trap triggers, and sends his life to 'near death'.he'll talk a moment.then focus only on irenicus, and send some fighters to kill him.-end-. -------------------- ![]() |

1. to the very south opposite of the door of tears lay all traps you can. irenicus will teleport there during the fight.
2. cast true sight. 3. cast remove fear. 4. insert last tear and have some +3 weapons ready. fight goes like this : irenicus babbles some threats and summons his demons. melee them down, 2 chars of yours vs. 1 demon. mages can use mordies sword or tensers transformation. if still needed cast stoneskin + mirror image. dont cast any aggressive spells here as demons resist most times. meanwhile irenicus casts chain contingency (or smth like that) and is nearly invulnerably protected. he cast simulacrum then but your true sight dispells this. i never encountered him casting instant killer or area effect damage spells at this point of the fight. he teleports to the south soon while you are killing the demons. traps are triggered and he will suffer. they always deal damage, no protection against (maybe stoneskin but he hadn't cast it). anyway, do you really have trouble finishing demons ? are you playing 'insane difficulty' ? didn't you get crom faeyr or celestial fury or maybe even the allmighty blackrazor ? [edit]: ugh i just read your party and your npcs. thats quite some selftorture (to me). NOW i know why the battle is difficult ![]() [ 06-26-2003, 02:24 PM: Message edited by: Bloodtitan ]

Well, I beat him. Finally. Had to do it twice cos I lost Anomen's stuff, but I did it. On ToB now, finally. I love it, really great. Thanks for all the help! I really, REALLY appreciate it. Oh, and for the record, Jaheira's scimitar was Scimitar +3, Water's Edge.
![]() And Imoen was a lvl 14 mage...argh, woops...nm, I beat him! |

lol, thanks. I can see why some people think he's easy now. (Couldn't before!) But he changes every save game. The first time I beat him he was pretty hard, but I lost Anomen's stuff as I didn't pick it up after I resurrected him in the battle. The second time I fought he was really easy. Strange...

I don't think they are summons...and if they're treated that way I don't think they should be...I mean, Balors and Glabraezu's??(sp?)...
