Rushing to Chapter 4 is not as difficult as it sounds. Several quests (de'Arnise, Trademeet, Renal Bloodscalp) let you pile up enough gold to start Chapter 3, and all you need to beat Chapter 3 is a good Tank, and possibly either a backpack full of Illithium, or (if you have the Item Upgrade MOD) a dead Shade Lord.

Chapters 4 and 5 are actually quite easy, if you know what you're doing and stick relatively close to the Main Plot and don't charge off into any really nasty areas (all of which you can come back to later).

60000-80000 on equipment I guess. Also you should not save money to take along on the trip. After you have been through the Asylum you will be brimming with loot.

And yes, if it is that little brown shield you are talking about it is very good. It will reflect all missile weapons fired at the wearer back to the assaulters. Sure it will not affect magic-based attacks, but for a mere 3000 and something it is a definite bargain. Also be sure to grab the somewhat underpriced Bracers of Defense +3 from the Adventurer's Mart.

[/QUOTE]True, you don't need anything off his corpse, but a certain item in the Upgrade MOD can make the Good path through Chapter 3 much easier--and in order to make it, you need the completed Symbol of Amaunator--and if you've got the Symbol of Amaunator, the Shade Lord is as good as dead.

If I want to get Imoen, I always rush through the first 4 chapters. I grab the people I want (once I even had Valygar in the party before we were ambushed by Suna Seni and her gang) and go kick some Vampire butt. This may change once I install Improved Bodhi, of course.

my 'rushing for Imoen' strategy usually includes finishing only the Circus Tent (Ring of Human Influence) and Mae'Var or De'Arnise Keep quests (for the money). first time through that would probably make chapters 4 and 5 quite difficult, but once you know your characters and the enemy, a level 10 party can easily set sail for spellhold, no problem.

i usually do about the same as frudi_x and have about £40,000 gold to spend before i leave. Do u guys go to the government district before or after imoen? I was also wonderin if there are any two handed swords i should by for me or minsc. I currently have the lilacor +3 and minsc has sword of chaos+2. My other party members are jahera, aerie, nalia(soon to be dumped for edwin and yoshimo (swapped for imoen who then might be swapped for jan.) any suggestions for good items? Also i want a good girdle. I play as a half orc and so i have 19 strength to start with. Is there any where you can by a girdle with more than 19 strength (adventurers mart 1 is 19) before crom faeyar. Any suggestions. Thanks for your other advice!!!
