Aye i know its damn addictive! after i completed BG1 (Sarevok ain't that hard really!) i looked everywhere for BG2! but for some reason its really hard to get hold of in the UK! HMV, Virgin and Game didn't have it, luckily Ebay is a treasure trove for these kind of things! as i speak TOB is winging its way toward my letter box!

There are hundreds of RPG games I have played but NONE surpass Baldur's Gate 2. Final Fantasy 8 was a piece of crap in comparison to the first Baldur's Gate and then...Along came Baldur's Gate 2 which knocked us on our ass (Please Pardon the Language,) with it's superior Gameplay, Graphics, and Sound. When I first played it, I thought "Holy s--t!" This is the best game I have ever played. Hexen, The Zelda Series, Blood, and all the others were NOTHING compared to BG 2. I wonder if Black Isle studios is gonna make Baldur's Gate 3...

Nice to know I am not alone then But I really am interested in who actaully created the BG worlds? It seems the writer/director is no longer around? Did he get layed off or what?

I know Black Isle and BioWare had a major falling out that may have contributed to the decline in the later RPGs (IwD/NwN) when it comes to content... What do you think? I personally would love to see these two team up once again...

Hmm, I really don't think it'll happen, I bet things have run their course between BlackIsle and BioWare... Last I heard, BioWare's involved with their Odyssey engine for that new StarWars first-person RPG project with Lucas, hope that's a good one for BioWare's sake, but I don't know how that format can compare with BG2's depth. I dunno but the extra dimension (3d) seems to gobble up all the processing power that could be used for NPC interaction, etc...

Maybe the BG2 mods will grow in number, with the same spirit as the original's writing - that'd be swell. Never needed to try a mod yet, but maybe later.

[And re replay value - I loved Half-Life enough to actually play it through (almost) 3 times... When I got BG2, I absolutely never, NEVER imagined that a RPG that takes months to finish could be replayed, and here I am two years and 6 plays later feeling like I could replay it twenty times - the cheapest 50 bucks I ever spent on a game]

BG2 is great - I love seeing all these posts! I have bought IWD2 and can't be bothered to end chapter 1! Same with so many other games I have spent good money on in the last 2 years and simply shelved. But, I keep 2-3 games running in BG2 with 2 copies on my computer - one moded and one not. It simply rocks.

I am afraid, however, that with this game there is simply not going to be another like it. It happened at a unique moment in time. I doubt a 2E based D&D game will ever be made again, first off. Second, the Bioware / Black Isle fallout.
