Why cheezy? Isn't the spell an integral part of the game? Yes, it is. Does casting the spell take some advantage from game bugs? No, it doesn't. Does something in the game prevent you from casting the spell on a dragon? No, it doesn't. Therefore, why cheezy?
Imprisonment: Only immunity helps. Resistance of any level is unessential. Therefore, Spell Immunity - Abjuration, Protection from Magic, Protection from Undeads (in case of undeads, not in case of Elder Orbs for example), spell absorbing items and spells, and natural immunities to Imprisonment.

Well .. it shouldnt actually leave items behind. Maybe something the programmers implemented for quest-necessary items ?
Newayz, Imprisonment stuffs your enemy in a little bulb a few thousand feet beneath the earth -with all of his equipment-. It rarely comes in handy,.. but it serves its purpose on some bosses ( even in ToB ) of which you dont care about loot. It's also a nice way to permanently remove one particulary hard enemy from the battlefield untill you see fit to bring him back via -Freedom-.

According to the Scroll of Misinformation (the manual), the Imprisonment - Freedom action can cause item loss. Moreover both Imprisonment and Freedom are level 9 spells, therefore, they are costy as far as spell slots are considered. Wouldn't be Maze better than Imprisonment?

Well,.. most real tough fights were you might be desperate enough to use imprisonment are going to last long enough for maze to be insufficient.
You want to be able to control the time of your enemy's return. And because you can, it doesnt really matter that freedom is another lvl 9 spell. Just imprison 1-2 out of a few hard enemies and finish the fight with the added ease of those two gone. After that,.. relax, go do something else .. buy a scroll of freedom or just rest and memorize one freedom-spell .. once every threat is removed, you dont really need to worry about a freedom spell occupying a lvl 9 slot, as there arent any enemies around anyway. The most It'd cost you is an extra rest after that. Although at that level,.. you dont really get much sleep anymore since both sorcerers and mages have ample means to use spellrecharging-tactics. Maze is too unpredictable, and coudl last for as little as one round for the really smart enemies. One -improved- enemy actaully uses it to take herself or friend out of battle momentarily, this gives them the chance to heal up. That trick is also used by the same enemy if you try to imprison her .. the moment the enemy sees that, it will try to maze itself first [ 03-12-2003, 06:45 AM: Message edited by: daan ]

Rather I'd be me presuming too much .. I experienced the tactic when fighting that enemy, but didnt really pay attention to her status afterwards.
I just assumed that she'd healed as well .. so let me reformulate: This gives one some breathing space wihtout the heat of battle blowing in its neck, while the other takes over the fight. Essentially they are a tag-team P.s. I know you'll take any oppertunity to comment on Weimer, but dont do it blindly .. my posts are hardly 100% fact-proof

Hmm.. i didnt know imprisonment left you enemy items, guess cuz i never use it
![]() very minor lich spoilers * * * * * * * But for the record, Kangaxx doesnt use Imprisonment. He uses a special Demi-lich move called Trap the Soul. (check your 3rd edition monster manual if you dont believe me ![]() The Demi-lich is made of a giant skull with gem eyes. Once the demi lich uses his special ability, trap the soul (which works like a projectile imprisonment), the soul of the target is captures and imprisoned in the demi-liches gem eyes. luckily enough, a freedom scroll will release them as if just from a normal imprisonment. OK, enough of that heh Xero

*Looks into ShadowKeeper*
Well, it doesn't say anything about Trap the Soul, but I'll take your word for it. The reason he is able to use it so many times is because it isn't a memorized spell, it's an innate ability. |

it wont be in shadow keeper, as a lot of the D&D spells are not in bg 2 (ex, magic tattoo). If anyone out there does have any monster manuels, its in the Epic Level handbook. im sure someone here has it, most likely dundee or six. my friend is buying it soon, so once he does ill get him to scan the page with it and i can post it on here. il try my best to do it fast, but it can take awile (the books cost around $40, which is alot for a teenager having to pay for gas, video games (dark age of camelot), and all that).
Edit: I have the pic! i just need to email it to someone who can post it on a site to link it on here, i dont have a picture storage site. O, according to 3rd edition rules, you are allowed a Fortitude Save (DC 36) in order to not become imprisoned. This is from th 3rd Edtion D&D Epic Level Handbook. I assume the spell is alittle different in bg 2, since bg uses 2nd edition instead of third. that means the saves arent going to be the same and the spell will be alittle different, but none the less, its the same skills. ![]() [ 03-12-2003, 08:33 PM: Message edited by: Xero279 ]
