Personally I never choose True Neutral, or Chaotic Evil, destroying everythign in your path because it's there and you have the ability to is not fun, or good RP in my mind, lawful evil is alot of fun as is lawful good, and chaotic good. Too many people people see Chaotic Neutral as a liscense to do whatever whenever, without repercussions for acting outside of their alignment, this is not the intent of the alignment, an antisocial drunk who is willing to gamble away his life savings on a toss of the coin is a good example of chaotic neutral, not a player who wants to be able to get away with saving the day and then stabbing children in the streets with no moral repercussion.

WHAT?!?!?!? true neutrals only care for themselves? WHERE does it say that in the description? true neutral characters see the balance in good and evil, and they strain to maintain that balance. If we lived in a "lawfull good" society that wouldnt work, neither would a "chaotic evil". you have to have balance.

Lawful Evil has never appealed to me. What's the point of being Evil if you won't break the rules to your advantage?

The other alignments are OK, but True Neutral is difficult to play.

Lawful evil is twisting the rules to your advantage hehe. Nothing like getting a righteous lawful good paladin imprisoned and shunned by his fellows through a little bit of trickery and deception. Lawful evil characters are perhaps the most evil of all, its easy to see someone coming right at you (chaotic evil), but the knife in your back is the one you will never see.

i hate the fact that BG is all about doing the right thing, and as such you can't truly play an evil character.

some of you pnp people might be able to help here.
what alignment would you call a character that totally agrees with the need for laws and regulations, as long as he himself is exempt ? he's a generally good character.

reason is this describes me. I'm all in favour of laws and rules, I totally approve... just don't force them on me !

I never pick True Neutral. I mean what is it all about.
In the game it says that a True Neutral character can switch side anytime. Evil characters can do this as well but they usually have a reason to do so namely that it benefits themselves. TN persons do this only to maintain balance which seems a bit vague to me.
