Talking about about archers : I made a new game with an human archer (18str 18dex), put 5 stars in long bow (i have grandmaster fix installed) and gave him the first long bow I found in Irenicus prison...well...

It's a shame...

He kills everything...and 80% of it in one shot...Minsc don't even have time to try to hit the poor creature, Imoen always ends up casting magic missile on a dead enemy, Jaheira sleeps and Yoshimo is bored.

This is not even fun !
They are overpowered !

Yes, the damage caused by ranged weapons is often evaluated badly. Nevertheless, I think that the value of the Tansheron's Bow or the Sling of Everard is based on the rank of the weapon, not on the damage caused by the weapon. The bow is "+3". If it causes only 1d6 damage then so be it. Similarly, the sling is "+5". This does not mean that the damage of the ranged weapons should not be fixed.
