You can defeat both dragons fairly eaisily even at low levels. I would not be going into melee with him though. Going into melee with a dragon is pure insanity.

For Firkragg before going in summon as many fire, and lesser fire elementals that you can. Cast your protective spells on your party them spread them out so if Firkragg goes after one of them just run and his mass spells are not so effective. When the battle starts have the fire, and lesser elementals engage Firkragg. Every one eles use ranged, have mages cast lower resistance, breach spells, etc. After that bombard with magic missles, acid whatever you have for offensive spells. Maybe I was a bit lucky in defeating him because Jaheria was getting 20 points of critical damage on several occasions with a simple sling.

For the Shadow dragon use a similar tactic except use holy smite (didn't try using it with Firkragg, may work the same) or whatever it is here as well it does alot of damage. If you have him chase one of your guys around everyone else should be able to finish him without him doing anything the room is large enough. He seems to have this thing for Minsc, I am thinking it is because of Boo.

I'm working on my post, also working on a couple of other threads I'm DMing, or helping to DM.

Sarles, try PMing Cyril or Larry in the LoF revisited thread, I'm sure they'd admit you to a really fun and epic story, even though there hasn't been much action yet.

Fire elementals? Red Dragon?

Am I missing something?

Earth or air maybe, but even then there are better summons.

Question Mark

I dont know about facing dragons, but hasted skeleton warriors (dont know if you can cast them yet) are scary to watch. Much like 4 swordspiders grinding thru the web.

Plus their MR is great.

[/QUOTE]yes you are missing something. Fire elementals heal when they are hit with fire damage(ie firkragg's breath)

AH. Now thats interesting. But, woudnt they get scragged by the melee attacks? I would think so, but Ive never tried this.

Current party is in cloakwood, experimentation will take place when I finally get them all the way to Firkraag.

Fire Elementals are one of the few summons that can take his Fireball and still LAST long enough to distract him into a melee. The fact that they can't really hurt HIM is almost irrelevant in this case.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the ultimate cheese. If you really want this to be easy...

You will need a thief. A high set trap skill helps, but it can theoretically be done with 5% in set traps.

Don't talk to Firkraag, just set traps around the overgrown lizard, resting when necccessary. Eventually you'll reach a limit. Buff up a tank with fire protections, and anything to make him survive one or two hits. Talk to Firkraag, when he goes hostile he'll get hit for a ton of damage. He probably won't be dead... but traps do more damage over time! If you can survive for one or two rounds, he'll be dead as a doornail.

Actually, a just as good and quicker way of dealing damage would be to stand out of his line of sight and cast cloudkill.

Lower Resistance, Greater Malison both work wonders with our friendly fire-spitting friend.

You have to be within sight-range to cast lower resistance, which in turn makes him hostile, which in turn makes casting cloudkill out of his sight-range impossible.

I could be wrong, though.
