If you ever hear anyone say the phrase "shared sacrifice", immediately ask them the following questions:

1) how much are you currently sacrificing?

2) do you think you are sacrificing enough?

3) (ask this if the answer to 2 is "no") why aren't you sacrificing that much?

4) how much are you willing to sacrifice? and

5) are you willing to sign a legally-binding contract that starts your "shared sacrifice" immediately and continues it for as long as you are a wage-earner?

Similarly, if you hear anyone say that taxes aren't high enough ask them these questions:

1) how high should taxes be?

2) are you currently paying more or less than that amount?

3) if you are paying less, then why aren't you voluntarily giving your stated ideal amount to the government already?

People who aren't willing to give up their own money first have no business telling other people that they need to give up money.
