How odd, I've been using Firefox as my web browser, but I can't start Wiz8 with Firefox open, is this a common problem?

It may be a stipulation of compatibility mode. Win 7 has saved your compatibilty settings in order to get this older game to run on a newer OS. In doing so, any programs running simultaneously could irk it, and cause it to read this as an error in starting the game. To be safe, simply exit FF or IE before starting.
