Wicca, sometimes called "The Craft" or "The Craft of the Wise" is one of many earth-based religion. The religion which is closest to Wicca in America is probably Native American spirituality. Traditional Wicca was founded by Gerald Gardner, a British civil servant, who wrote a series of books on the religion in the 1940's. It contains references to Celtic deities, symbols, seasonal days of celebration, etc. Added to this were components of ceremonial magic and practices of the Masonic Order. A more recent form is eclectic Wicca which involves a combination of Wiccan beliefs and practices, combined with other Pagan and non-Pagan elements. The various traditions of Wicca are part of the Pagan or Neopagan group of earth-based religions.
Some Wiccans pray to their God or Goddess. More Wiccans probably feel that they have more of a partnership with the God and Goddess than the God/worshiper relationship found in Christianity and other world religions. They need the Goddess and God; the God and Goddess need them. They welcome communion with the God and Goddess; they don't really worship them in the same way as followers of other religions do. to learn more click here http://www.religioustolerance.org/witchcra.htm this was taken out of the site above, so that i would nothave togo into great details [ 05-05-2003, 04:07 PM: Message edited by: Stormymystic ]

Wow! 47% said they are non-religious. (I'm very good at spelling most of the time.) Well, so am I but I prefer to say I'm an Independent spiritualist. I come across ideas here and there, contemplate/meditate, and come up with other ideas of "what ifs" and "what now". I believe in things beyond our current everyday living and, yes, even life beyond life. IMO we just remove ourself or consciousness out of the physical and into the ethers where ever that may be. This earthly existence is a another play to experience the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

Another athiest here, though latly I've been having my interest in Zen Buddhism rewakened. It's been 20 years since I did any spiritual seeking and I'm feeling the need to start again.

Don't worry, Stormymystic, you are not the only Wiccan on this forum.
I know of a few others.

For the most part i'm not religous. I see it as sort a possiblity, which means i think its possible to have a god, there mabey is but i don't practice formalized religon, so not really atheist but not really religous.
