I actually use people I know as well. I used to play Star Wars roll play (board game) and I used the names of our characters. I don't even take anyone with me anymore. I just go around as a lone Zenmaster so I can grow more quickly. Enough rambling for now I guess.

I use Serath a lot, of course. Other names that keep popping up for me are Splintersteel, Lord Soth, Nightbird, Raistlin. Most of these are from various D&D fame.

The list of names that I have been known to employ range from the fantastical, "Madreus", to the corny, "Aristeo", and the rediculous,"Bthrpnk" (pronounced Buthrupnook). For more information see my answers to various name polls (then posting as Dwarf). However my most notorious WW party consists of: Sister Lisa the Paladin,Durin the Dwarfern Paladin, Carenis the Barbarian, Father Telar the Paldin(ex Priest), Gertha Drin the Gnome and Shevine Callisham the Elfin Spellmaid.

Oh, and btw name suggestions for Dr.Orangutan's Samurai include: Hito Sowate, Yuri Tagosaki, Lao Tser(if feeling silly), Yufio Mifune (the star of "The Hidden Fortress and other films in the style of "The Seven Samurai"), and I'm sure that he can think of something equally sinister and imposing.

Mark - well you will have to ask Smylin Dragon where the Lothar comes from - for me the Lothar comes from a stuffed lion (pookey) that Jack named Lothar!

Since I cut my fantasy teeth some 25years ago or more on the Lord of the Rings. I find myself draw to using the names of some of the characters from that great story, when I set out to fight evil again. My dauntless heros are Aragorn human,Balan dwarf,Buras oomphaz,Gilgamesh elf,Drogo dwarf,&Kasmer human
