Blimey, I suspect the reason I didn't know what you were talking about was due more to the fact I'm English than age!
We did have Green Shield stamps here tho, when I was about 3 I took them out of my mums bag while she was unpacking the grocery shopping - she came into the living room to find that I had diligently stuck one on each and every item of furniture in the room!
