Time to apply what I learned about scientific reasoning in my philosophy class to this case. For example, more teenagers buy cars that are red, black, blue...etc...and those are the ones that have more accidents...not for the car color, but for the person who chose that color car to drive.
Now...Silver colored cars are for rich people. That is not a color that teenagers choose if they want a car...and not many cars are silver. Gray and silver are not to be confused. Silver is reserved for cars like a Lexus or something. People who can afford silver cars have better jobs and are mid-aged...and so are more safe on the road than old people or teens. Teens tend to drive more than adults, so they raise thier percentage of accidents by being on the road more often. Simple logic. Although The color of the car and accident rate is positively correlated...the color of the car is not the causal factor in the matter. Those two terms have completely different definitions. Put it like that and wearing dark clothes while walking by the road in the dark isn't necessarily more dangerous than having light clothes + reflexes. It doesn't have to be true because the statistics says so, but it does make sense that dark cars are harder to spot in the dark and could thus be more likely to be involved in crashes.

Brown was apparently the most dangerous colour, and I very much doubt that's a popular choice with the young drivers But sure there could be other reasons why certain colors are involved in more accidents than others, brown could've been the most popular colour in a period when less safe cars were manufactured.

I hate to say this people but look up for once in your lives. Larry said it is "entirely plausible", I would say it is "Plausible without doubt". When are people going to realize that these are marketing techniques used for years by big companies (such as MCdonalds)? Color has been used in gambling casinos for well, ages. This is what they don't want you to know, my friends .

This isn't new. As the article said, they have done this research before and white cars came out on top as the least likely to be in accidents. I can fully believe that the colors do correlate with the accident/crash statistics. I've had more accidents (been hit) in my red car than I did in my grey one and I never had even ONE accident in my white one.
